Despite being more expensive than our usual travel budget - this place was an absolute treat. Lovely venue and staff, delicious food and drinks. If you’re on a budget (or not), I’d recommend buying a baguette rather than a sandwich, as the ingredients are baked into the warm loaf and are huge plus far cheaper than a sandwich. We ordered the bacon, mushroom and cheese baguette which was amazing as a tear and share between two of us with some butter. Very filling and delicious! Our baguette came to £3 (3000 Chilean Pesos) between two of us and filled us up for breakfast and lunch!

Hello Joanna!
Thank you so much for your comment!
Nothing better than a fresh baked baguette and a fresh pressed orange juice.

We had coffee there this morning and a “pain au chocolat”. Delicious, all of it, good coffee, which is rare in most places.
Great to sit outside in the dapple shade of the little trees. Very nicely done.
The staff was great too, and several of them can speak English as well, which can be a bonus for some.
Amazing bread and it seems very popular with locals as the stream of people, just coming in to by bread, was constant. Very impressed and great initiative considering they are just on the edge of the touristy bits.
Worth a mid morning stop there.

This bakery is bread heaven. Really good quality, both take away and to have breakfast/lunch. We enjoyed croissants, pain au chocolat, sandwiches (1/2 baguette) and a Roquefort baguette. They have a pretty terrace. Yum yum yum.

Additional items added to the bill, which were removed when challenged so check your bill carefully.
Don’t expect personal service when trying to pay, the rude woman on the till thought it was fine to leave us standing there whilst sorting out bread for another customer.
Food okay but very expensive... if you fancy a bit of french food and french service this is the place for you, otherwise remember (like we should have) you are in Chile and eat in local restaurants.

To take away no problem, all their sweets and delicious baguette.
The problem was when it came to serving in the establishment it took longer than normal, first our coffee arrived and they only left it on the table, without sugar or anything where we had to ask for this and call the waiter/waitress it cost us a lot, then Adding to that, they brought us a different order that we had not ordered, saying that the girl who served us made a mistake, they went to change it but they brought us things at the wrong time, the idea being to have breakfast together, not one first and one later, finally they did not bring us oil, salt, pepper, since the sandwich arrived at the other tables along with this canister.
The idea was to have breakfast to start the day well, and in the end it was the opposite because we lost the desire to eat there since we had had the coffee and then the sandwich arrived so in the end we paid and took it.

The place is a classic, but its products have lowered the quality, if you want to buy bread, you must consume it instantly does not last more than 4 hours fresh, then it is already hard and dry.If you do not want to destroy your palate or gums, do not order baguette , its bark is very sharp and can hurt you. Croissants have very little filling and are getting smaller and more expensive, however they are rich the same. If you want good coffee is not the place, but fulfill if what you want is something basic to accompany breakfast on its terrace that is beautiful surrounded by chañar forest.

As a family of 2 adults and 6 daughters seeking some quiet place to relax after a long journey from Bolivia, what a nightmare this Franchuteria!
We went there 2 times and 2 times half of the menu was not available. I do not find it normal not to have a croissant or a pain au chocolat from a place labelled as a “French Bakery”.
The service is very average and slow. Our drinks were brought 2 times by 2 different waiters.
The baguette on the menu was expected to be some kind of dish, but what a surprise when 3 enormous loaves of bread were brought to us.
Finally the cheese empanada made of croissant was absolutely not cooked and just huge - I doubt this would fly as a dish in any eating place in France.
All this of course for a very expensive bill.
This place is in all tourist guides and benefit from the fact that their customers would never come back.

Amazing bread, Best I have ever tried out of France and even better. A bit pricy but I guess isn´t easy to get some of the ingredients in Atacama. anyway, for 4 -5 euro each, two persons have a magnificent breakfast (if im remembering it right) The roquefort one is superb. The coffee is also very good. We were there every morning for breakfast, when the temperature is milder. The tables under the trees are very comfortable and it's a nice place to meet other travellers.

Before going off to the geysers in the early morning our guide and driver stopped at the Franchuteria to buy some freshly baked baguettes for the picknick lunch. No wonder that we went there for an afternoon coffee break after the tour...
It was lovely to sit under the trees with cheeky birds around us waiting for the leftovers on the tables. The service was friendly, the croissants were "French" - obviously one of San Pedro's favourite spots for quite a number of people.

We visited five times during our 5 day stay in San Pedro. We had two takeaways of their croissants and three lunches of filled croissants (ham and cheese) and coffee and juices. Croissants just beautiful - you won’t find better. Very pleasant outside seating under the olive trees. Real gem in San Pedro and service good too and friendly.

We went because of the recommendation, the famous croissants are not wonderful, it was quite dry and the filling was very very little. They took a while to give us the menu even though there were very few people, the natural juice was warm, and we went at 5:30 p.m. and there were no baguettes or sandwiches left. I note that the place is beautiful!

The breakfast was very delicious, the croissant was fresh and very tasty, the coffee was small in size but still delicious. Excellent service, from the person who took my order to the people who were at the inn. The atmosphere of the terrace is very pleasant with natural trees, birds, very clean and with soft music. In summary, excellent experience.

What a cool spot! Loved sitting among the trees… We initially went to La Franchuteria in search of good coffee, but found so much more. Croissants, sandwiches, freshly squeezed orange juice, sandwiches… We visited twice and wished we had discovered it sooner. The staff is great, too. The only downside is the dusty walk from the center of town, but it’s well worth the trip.

We ordered the baguette (well served), croissant de manjar (dulce de leche) and coffee. Everything very good!
We just think it's a bit high for a coffee to cost 3000 pesos

It is a very famous bakery in St. Peter. This is where the bread that all tour agencies take to take on tours comes from. They have two units, one in the center and another further away, on Licancabur Street, which has a very nice space, full of birds. The juices are great and the snack was very good, large and very tasty. It's also not very cheap, but everything in San Pedro has a higher cost by location. Our breakfast was at 23 thousand pesos (around 140 reais). They have Wi-Fi as well.
