This is a nice place to have a coffee or tea in the afternoon. We stopped here after wallking around in the heat and were relieved to be served "onces" which included a beverage, and cake. I had an iced coffee which was delicious. The service was a bit slow considering they weren't so busy. But they were friendly and... More

We went here on a sat night when virtually everything was closed (celebration I think). We had a nice red, service was fine, timing was fine, my chinorillo was very tasty and served 2 of us. My friends had pizzas which were ok if not perhaps a little small. Price was good from memory

We stopped here for lunch as part of our walk about the older section of La Sernna, the part most tourist miss completely. The menu consisted of a 3 course lunch with a choice for each level, i.e. Soup or salad, fish (yummy Reinata) or Lomo (meat) and a desert plus wine (red or white) for 4500$ ($7-$8). Salad was... My wife and I went here for what we were hoping could be a pre-dinner beer and snack. We ordered a platter of meats, cheese and pickled/cured veg and such. I wasn't expecting much of the platter but it still missed the mark a little bit. Plus it took at least an hour to leave the kitchen... For a cold... More

I don't know about the food but the hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream is amazing!! Costs 2,500 CLP but is definitely worth it. 10 out of 10!

On a Saturday night- the streets teeming with people, it was surprisingly difficult to find a restaurant that was open! We sat outside, which was pleasant enough. The service was apathetic. My husband enjoyed his burger, but the waiter forgot to put in his order for fries, so he ate half, then tried to wait, but it started becoming soggy... More

Discovered this restaurant on an Easter weekend trip to La Serena. Arriving on Friday evening, we found lots of places closed for the holiday. Luckily, La Colonial was not one of them. We had pisco sours at the Happy Hour special price. Our meals of grilled pork chops with a generous vegetable side dish were piquant and filling. Service was... More

Having read a great review in the lonely planet we headed for this centrally located cafe in La Serena. We could only sit outside because we have children and they're not allowed inside as smokers are inside. We hung around waiting for a table and then had to split up between 2 tables. The food was awful: terrible pizza pasta... More
