About
The Lonely Tree Café is a social enterprise with the goal to obtain profits to help finance the social projects of the Apostolic Prefecture of Battambang. The projects we support cover a wide range of humanitarian aid including education, support for the disabled, healthcare and preservation of Cambodian cultural heritage. At the Lonely Tree Café we give employment to underprivileged and disabled people: the staff consist of vulnerable youth and most of the products sold in the Lonely Tree Store are crafted by people with physical disabilities who are in permanent need.

Very nice restaurant in colonial style above a craft shop in support for children with disabilities The dishes are delicious for a good value for money and here you can find one of the few menus that offers desserts. Well eaten and more for a good cause. I highly recommend

Super nice place with a heterogeneous soul, boutique on the ground floor and café on the first floor where you can enjoy cakes (delicious!!!), fresh juices, shakes in peace and relaxation... It has a green soul that you don't expect in a country where plastic still wins, here the straw is made of steel. The staff, as always in Cambodia, are very courteous and smiling and are also, unlike usual, efficient. The place is supportive and supports the local community by also employing disabled workers.

In an honestly unpretentious town, with dusty streets when it doesn't rain or a latrine when it rains, this structure is located in the very famous (so to speak) pub street (three lights on and three deserted rooms in a street... see above) and perhaps the only place worth a review. On the ground floor there is a shop where the sales assistant doesn't shit you for anything, then a staircase leads to the room with a small terrace on the street above. Spanish menu with also decent chicken cordon blu and local cuisine although with little choice. The guys in the room are good and quick, in short it's worth it especially due to the lack of alternatives.

I hate writing bad reviews and it is a really nice setting here but not one for western tourists with dietary requirements. The staff do not speak very good English but confirmed the food I ordered had no cow’s milk and they would do my dish with no chicken. They had to remake my food as it had chicken in and because it is dimly lit I ate some by accident when I do not eat meat. The food also definitely had dairy in as I am intolerant and have been really ill after eating it. It’s a real shame

In the shop where we first shopped, there was a woman in a wheelchair who was more unfriendly than we had ever experienced in Cambodia. In the café upstairs, the staff preferred to look at their cell phones rather than serve the customers. The Pad Thai didn't taste good either. It only gets three points because it is a nice place in itself and people with disabilities or from difficult backgrounds can get a job there, which we are happy to support. But definitely not like this anymore.

This is a haven of tranquility after a warm walk around anywhere here in Battambang. The setting is very relaxing, the staff are really friendly, the food is very good (big portions) and very reasonably priced, and their raison d'etre is inspiring. I would recommend this every day of the week.

An Excellent Restaurant. If you are looking for a casual lunch with friends The Lonely Tree is the place to go too. Situated above their not for profit shop that supports artists and crafters from the Battambang region, The Lonely Tree Café’s vibe, menu, food and service are simply excellent. The menu caters for everyone with our diverse tastes. the food is carefully and expertly prepared and the service is prompt and delivered with a sunny smile. Every request was handled with the utmost care and efficiency from the staff of local people. The price is very reasonable and would high recommend many a return visit. Would definitely go back again and again. Can not recommend highly enough.

After reading the rave reviews about this place, we were very underwhelmed when we visited Lonely Tree Cafe. Whether or not the reviews are skewed because they assist with a great cause in Cambodia could be a factor, but our experience didn’t blow us away. We ordered two Chicken Pad Thai for $4.00 each as well as a 1.5L water for $1.50. The prices are reasonable, however the Pad Thai was so bland and flavourless, and to be quite honest it was a bit sloppy. We ate it because we were hungry but it wasn’t anything special at all, and we’ve had much better Pad Thai all over Asia. Perhaps our experience was a one-off but we ate in so many other fantastic places in Battambang that I would recommend skipping this one.

The restaurant is part of a project for the training of young people and people with disabilities. The cozy restaurant is located above the store with many products from social projects. The menu includes both local and Spanish specialties. Let us explain how this came about. Very friendly service and excellent cuisine. Really recommendable.

After seeing recommendations online we had to visit. We were the only people in there, and the waitresses were very attentive and their English was excellent! A very extensive menu, with something for everybody. We went for the tuna salad & caesar salad, with a large Spanish omelette to share. All was delicious and so reasonably priced! A little bit hidden away, but it makes it a hidden gem! You enter into the shop selling the most gorgeous items, and the entrance to the cafè is just up the stairs.

Went there two nights out of three -because of the fantastic food and staff. Recommend the eggplant tapas, the cheese cake and mango smoothies. Well priced with quality food. Plus there is a great made local craft store downstairs.

Probably the most significant fact is that I had brunch here and then returned the same evening for supper. While the food is excellent and good value. It was the decor, ambiance and friendly service which made it stand out. It is set in a fascinating street. Set above a clothing / craft shop. The restaurant is decorated with an arty/cool/organic vibe with lovely photographs on the walls. The balcony is the prime spot. The menu is a good mixture of Cambodian and western. The western has a Mediterranean and Mexican slant. There is good espresso coffee and draught beer. Perfect! Thank you!

What a gem! The combination of shop and restaurant is a winner. Products for sale in the shop is well sourced, good quality and well presented. The restaurant section of the building was beautifully restoured keeping the French caracter of the building. The staff very well trained and presented their service verh proffessionally. Food was good and affordable.
