Had lunch at Nary Kitchen (set menu) with tour group as part of our tour of Battambang - crispy fried noodle satay salad ; sweet/sour chicken soup with coconut & lemongrass; beef lak lom with pepper sauce & sticky rice; fresh fruit salad - all very tasty & delicious!... The Nary Kitchen also does cookery classes ($10) for those who want to learn how to create authentic Cambodian dishes at home. The restaurant is fairly small, so if a large tour group comes along (like ours), you will have to wait for a table I'm afraid - I did notice it appeared to be quite popular with Westerners. [Note: There is only one unisex toilet on the premises, so if you are in a large tour group, be prepared to queue for a while!....]

Went to Narys last night for dinner and had the amok & Lok Lac.. they were both so good that we decided to return today for the cooking class to learn how to make them for ourselves.
It was a very fun experience.. started with a walk to the market to get some ingredients and learn about the fish and vegetables as well as watching someone prepare fresh coconut milk for us.
Then it was straight back to the kitchen.. started with some veggie spring roles, then a fish amok, beef Lok Lac and finally a banana and tapioca dessert.
Toot did a great job of teaching us how to use the ingredients and also explained what we could use to substitute the ingredients in our home countries.
Once we had finished cooking we at down to eat it all... Very tasty and very filling.
All in all it was an excellent and very entertaining afternoon and also great value for money.

We just had an amazing experience at Nary cooking class. We toured the local market with Roh, which was worth the price by itself! Then cooked rice paper rolls, tofu amok, rice mushroom loklak and banana, tapioca coconut pudding. Then we ate it! We even got the recipes in a cookbook and it was only $10 each. Great people and a fun time for adults and kids.

We had a great time participating in the Nary Kitchen cooking class. The class was very good value for money ($10 USD). Our cooking instructor Toot was fun, engaging and catered for vegetarian options. Would recommend when visiting Battambang!

Wow!! We had such an amazing experience learning how to cook traditional Khmer cuisine. Toot led our class and was hilarious and so knowledgeable, he really made the experience fantastic! The kitchen was impeccably clean and both Toot and Nary kept everything clean and tidy throughout our class. We made vegetable spring rolls, fish amok, beef lok lak and banana and coconut milk tapioca pudding. All of it tasted amazing and we couldn’t believe how inexpensive it was either! Nary even put tiger balm on my mosquito bites for me! We would highly recommmend this to anyone visiting Battambang - simply the best hosts and teachers!

We enjoyed a lovely cooking class with Toot. His son took us to the local market to get the ingredients needed to cook fish Amok, beef lok lak, spring rolls and banana and tapioca for dessert. Toot was a great teacher and the food was delicious.

Wow! This was great! We were looking for a place to learn some Khmer cooking in a friendly atmosphere and found just that. Ahead of preparing the food, we were taken to the local market to buy ingredients. Toot and Nary are fantastic hosts, it was a pleasure to prepare a total of four courses under their instruction, and then of course enjoy the food after. Highly recommended for those wishing to sample Cambodian cuisine!

We had a really great time at Nary Kitchen where we learned to cook 4 different traditional Khmer dishes (you can chose between 10 options)!
We met at 3.30 (nary kitchen provides a free pick up in the city) and went to the market together with Jackie Chan who explained us all the different traditional ingredients which where sold at the market and who bought some stuff for us to cook afterwards!
Then we started the cooking class with Chef Toot which lasted around 2h. We had a great time as Chef toot explains everything very well and has a great sense humor ;-) after, we ate all together the food we had prepared which was delicious! And all of this for only 10 dollars!
We would 100% recommend this place to anyone who wants to spend a great moment and learn about Khmer cuisine.
Thanks again 😍

We had a fantastic time at the cooking class! Toot very kindly catered to my dietary requirements and made all the dishes vegan for me and explained what substitutions I was using. We were treated to breakfast ans got to see the local market before making 4 dishes. We even got the recipes sent to us at the end so we can make them ourselves after our trip which I will definitely be doing. Thank you so much to Nary Kitchen! Can't recommend enough :)

The cooking class at Nary Kitchen went above and beyond expectations. Toot was an enthusiastic and brilliant teacher. We made 4 dishes including spring rolls and Amok, all of which were delicious. They accommodated all of our dietary requirements as we were able to make the dishes individually vegetarian, vegan or with meat. All of this was extremely good value for money too!

This is the review of the dinner menu - not of the cooking class.
After reading the very positive reviews, we decided to go to Nary for dinner.
WhenI asked to make the fried ginger spicy, they said, they could not do it. Instead they gave us a bottle of chili sauce that you can buy at every grocery store.
Come on - if you even have a cooking class, you could provide your guests worth some fresh cut chilis, don‘t you?

Had a great time in nary’s cooking class. Went for dinner there last night and decided to come back for cooking class today. For the price you get so much food and a great understanding of what goes into the Cambodian dishes you are making. Would highly recommend if you’re in Battambang. Lovely instructor toot which was very helpful and informative, he also spoke amazing English!

Just attended my first cooking class. It was a lovely experience and the food was really tasty. The teacher Toot provided me with several recipes by email so I could make these dishes at home. Please make a visit when you travel to Battambang.

I had a wonderful meal at Nary Kitchen. Starting off with a warm welcoming I met Toot the owner. He and his son made my stay very pleasant. Nary - Toots wife - cooked an amazing vegetarian curry and a very refreshing and well spiced mango salad for me. During my stay Toot told me a lot about Khmer culture. All in all a nice experience and I recommend everyone to visit this place!

I called around 4pm for a cooking class and was invited to come right away. The instructor is thorough and wants you to learn as much as possible. The class begins by walking over to the market where you buy everything fresh. Then you make a 4 course meal which has generous portions. After that he shares the recipes for these meals and 6 others so you can make them at home. The cost was 15 dollars because I did this solo, but otherwise it should be less if you have a group. I thought this was good value and I would recommend it, especially if you have a half day and you are doing the caves and bamboo train tomorrow.
