About

This restaurant is built in 1934 for the Romanian Queen Maria. In this place she had her special delicious meals while enjoying the stunning sea view and the view of her lovely Balchik Palace. In our restaurant you will feel like a royalty, not only because of the atmosphere of this unique place, but also because of the specially selected menu and our high level service.

Not quite according to the reviews

Nice place by the sea, interesting menu, but not so great execution of it. The tarator was decent, but I've had better, but the mussels in shells were of low quality - every clam had another or more tiny clam inside and you had to be really careful picking them apart so you don't break your teeth. There are indeed a lot of hungry stray cats (if you want to adopt, here's a place) and we enjoyed their company, but the waiters did not seem to like them very much. We left before closing time, but were one of the last customers - during this time the waiters were quite annoying clearing all the tables, putting the chairs away. None of them wore masks.

Verry nice restaurant. If you ever visit Balchik this a mandatory stop. Great food, great staff, and also great view. We ve visited this restaurant during new year holidays. Each meal we took at this restaurant was verry tasty, and fresh. Some items on the menu were not available beacause during winter you cannot catch some types of fishes - that means the food is fresh, not frozen. Also for 5 people 200 leva is pretty good for a meal with 1st plate, desert, coffee, wine and soft drinks. Plates are pretty good, big portions. What you should definetly try if you get here is fish roe salad, with fresh pita. The bathrooms were clean, music was good, overall a verry nice experience. 10/10 WOULD RECCOMEND!

We come almost every year to eat at Korona. In the last 2 years the food and the service got worse. The only dish that remained the same was Korona cake. This year we've had a pleasant surprise: the management changed and the dishes are tasty again. The staff is very friendly and the service is good. They don't serv korona cake anymore, but you can find a good replacement with the biscuit cake. However, if you really want to taste Korona cake, you can find it in Regina Maria hotel restaurant

A disaster experience

Food was terrible and tasteless. The waiters were frequently disappearing from the premises. We were a party of 4, the main course being brought separately, all of us having to wait, therefore having the food cool down before eating together. I would NOT recommend this place to any tourist coming to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Balchik.

Awful food

Avoid this place. I was here for my birthday and the food was awful. I ordered a medium rare T-bone and was cooked well done being 1 cm thick. My wife had a duck breast that looked and tasted like it was cooked 3 days before.

Food was terrible

We really had expectations based on previous reviews, but food was terrible, duck breast was extremely well done and maybe cooked some time before and just heated again. T-bone steak was well done and we mentioned to be cooked medium-rare. I do not recommend this place. They asked how is the food, we said our complains and the waiter just walked away. Very bad experience!

Bad experience - be prepared to wait

Food is decent. Seafood looks frozen, though. Problem is with staff, they do not have enough waiters. Kitchen is probably very disorganised as I can confirm, as other guests have reviewed here, that they do not bring food to the tables together. We waited 40 minutes since the first person got their food until the final person got theirs. Waiters completely ignore you and you will probably waste more than 30 minutes since you ask to pay until you get the check.

Disappointing

I visited the restaurant due to the good evaluation on here. My experience was very different. The location is phenomenal. Food was one-star-worthy though... I received a burnt salmon steak with two shrimps on top and a mojito without rum. When I told them to please check the drink they said maybe the barman had forgotten about the rum. Haha. Mojito is not a hard drink to make. And the burnt salmon was the peak.

Delicous food

Great location and amazing food. The service was very good. Some of the waiters even spoke Romanian. There were a lot of food options and everthing we chose was delicious. They provided us a baby chiar for our 1 year old daughter. All the staff was wearing a mask. Very clean location. Good cocktail. A nice experience.

Perfect in every way

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Corona Balchik! The meal was fabulous, and the setting right by the sea was truly spectacular. The friendly waiter added to the charm of the place. The Burrata salad was a burst of perfect flavors, and the fried fish was exquisite. I can't recommend this place enough!

It could be better

I ordered a salad and a fish, proposed as been fresh. It is possible that it was fresh, but it was definitely undercooked, with blood next to the spine. I returned it, and received it back a bit later looking like a shoe sole, finished in the oven I guess. I see some folks like the place, definitely not my kind. For that quality is way overpriced.

Great view but overrated restaurant

Small size portion on fish soup... Even smaller then a cup of tea. A few fish tracks in it. No connection to the weight written on the menu. Acceptable horse mackerel but unacceptable garlic sauce. Prices too high for what they offers. For short: not a very pleasant experience! I do not recommend.

Best food in a 30km radius

Great food, nice staff, very good location. We ate here after the gardens&palace visit, and came back a few days later from varna just to have lunch. I recommend the cod fish and you must try the nougat ice cream.

The food and service was amazing. Really rare delicious food for Black sea coast, for us one of the best places for dinner at the Bulgarian seaside. The restaurant has lovely sea view and friendly staff. Highly recommended!

Wonderful position away from the main strip. Good service.

Wonderful position overlooking the sea and just below the Palace, away from the more commercialised restaurants further along the strip. Altogether a more relaxing setting. Our mussels and homemade chips were very good. Our waiter was very good, efficient with a pleasant smile. Prices are reasonable for its position. It is a large restaurant and the inside seating area looked very good, however on a hot summers night the pleasure is sitting outside and taking in the view. Overall a very enjoyable meal.
