Extraordinary experience. Went out with my wife on a given weekday and was blown away by this Uruguayan experience. We had Biff Ancho, with side dishes and the excellent uruguayan Zillertal beer. It was rounded it off with a huge brownie, washed down with coffee...and Cognac. The service was excellent with a happy and motivated staff.More
Very good Uruguayan Steak House that is very popular with the locals. We were with a large group so the meat was skittle salty and not perfectly done. The dessert made with a Papaya Cream and Cassis Licor was outstanding. A very good place in...a city known for its “churrasquerias” (Steak Houses)More
El Tranvia is a traditional meat/parrilla restarurant with great cuts. The price is in the high level $$$$ however you get what you pay for!
The restaurant is a bit hidden. I passed it millions of time and only when I got the actual address did I find it. It is huge with various dining halls. Service was good, but it took a long time until our dishes arrives. We...accepted the Couvert which included a variety of breads and buns, mayonaise, butter, delicious olives and delicous sweet morcilla. We ordered the bife de Vacio (Fraldinha) ao ponto and the Batas al Plomo (Potatos with bacon). The food was great. not a strong grill taste though. very mild. Drank Uruguayan Patricia beer. Wonderfull.More
Good place for family and business meals. The steaks are great and service is good. Environment is also nice and enjoyable.
El Tranvia has the atmosphere of a country house with a barbecue place where you come with lots of people to meet lots of people. It is full of ups and downs with stairs and aisles to het to the different rooms. the food was...very good, presented in an old fashion style under a wide menu of options from the meat to the salads. We had a great time with an assado de tira and that sympathetic service from waiter Elivelton completed the enjoyable experience. When around it is a must stop.More
I went with my family, we were 17! I had meat, really soft and so rich!!! The flavor was excellent!! For dessert: chocolate cake with "doce de Leite" and vanilla ice cream! A perfect way to finish!!!!!! Really want to come back, great food, good...price!More
2nd time I came to this wonderful place. I would recommend to make reservations 1 day before as it could be packed with people on the weekends. This typical Uruguayan meats restaurant carry an excellent choice of quality meats that are acompanied by whatever choice...of potatoes, veggies or salads. Wine is a must drink in this place with the meat of your choice.More
One of the best beefs ever. Great place, great service and great deserts. Ask for "maminha" or "bife de tira" and for desert "devil chocolate pie".
Absolutely delicious Meat. The service we had was amazing. The staff was very attentive and polite. This is a must try if you really enjoy a good steak. I have never enjoyed rice as much as I did there. The dessert was absolutely amazing as...well. I would definitely go back the next time I'm in São Paulo.More
Comida espetacular, ótimo ambiente. Opção excelente para o dia de hoje: celebração de casamento. Amazing food, great ambiance. An excellent choice for those traveling. Well, it is a piece of Uruguay in the middle of São Paulo. For families and couples!
Very nice place, well decorated, excelent meat, realy good ! There is a valet parking just in front. Sure I'll return.
With the recommendation by my friend, we went to this restrant, however, the quality of attending and service is very poor. They served main dish after 10 minuites later, they served entry. When we left after cheking no-body said thanks.... It is terrible restreant, I...am living im Uruguay, the dish served at this restaurant is not Uruguay style dish.. they did not have value of R$200.More
Mr. toshiya_abe, good evening, thanks for your time to evaluate us. Indeed, El Tranvía is a Uruguayan restaurant serving prime cuts imported from that country. It belongs to the same Uruguayan family who founded the group in 1997, with 4 restaurant in São Paulo and...More
A discreet success, El Tranvia takes as its symbol a tram carriage, and it seems apt - low-key, serviceable, a tried and trusted formula. El Tranvia has grown from a single narrow-fronted premises to occupy what were three house-fronts. The dining areas just go on...and on, both towards the rear and to the sides. Decor is Uruguyan country - broad wooden floorboards, a freestone feature chimney, wooden half-panelling, exposed brick-work. It`s become big enough to include an Uruguyan art gallery - actually rather good - on a mezzanine floor, with a well-stocked bar under. El Tranvia serves Uruguyan and Brazilian meats, cooked to order. Beef, chicken, lamb, fish, and pork, all are available. Aberdeen Angus beef is a feature. We ordered a marbled cut, grilled al ponto, with the steamed vegetables which more usually accompany fish - the service is commendably flexible. A reasonable Cotes du Rhone was less than R$100. A large grilled and dressed beef tomato and a savoury morcilla (black pudding) were tasty starters. As is often the case, desserts are plain - a glass of good oloroso sherry with coffee seemed best. For carnivores, El Tranvia is a tempting option. Customers may be loud Brazilians rather than their more restrained Uruguyan cousins, but there`s room for all parrilla-lovers in this spacious success story.More
