While going through the gateway it is possible to feel the gentle warmth of the fireplaces, glimpse the walls of centenarians dormant railroad, finely decorated with copper objects that reflect the lights of the candles on the tables, it is impossible not try this tasty and warm feeling that says: Yes, I'm in Campos do Jordao!

His story begins in 1967, the Mini Shopping Iguatemi, as House of Cheese and Wine. Over time customers started asking evening wine and cheese and then came the idea of opening a restaurant. In 1969, it opened in Campos do Jordao, in a house that was across the current location. It was the first restaurant fondues and raclettes city.

At the time, the cheese fondue was canned in Switzerland and had to be mixed with national cheese to please the tastes of Brazilians. With the acquisition of the house, where today stands the only cheese, construction of the new building was all prepared already thinking about environmental preservation, for it was used sleepers for the railway, and several other antiques that today are true relics and add one all special charm to their environments.

Beaufifully decorated restaurant with very good fondue

The restaurant has a very nice rustic decoration with lit fireplaces that gives it a romantic atmosphere. The fondue created by the Chef (not the original Swiss formula) is suprisingly good as are the other dishes they serve. The staff is friendly and tried to accommodate all our speciall orders.

Let's say it's pricey and the cheese fondue I make at home tastes better than the one they sell there and the bread at home is so much fresher. The homemade bread that comes as an appetizer is actualy fresh but the sauces don't worth the 15 reais they charge each person. One glass of the house wine is 28... More

This restaurant calls them The Best. Honestly I did Not see why they call them The Best. A regular cheese foundue, well overpriced, the restaurant smells bad due to the meat fondue smoke. The wine list is at least twice the price comparing to other places. It was a total deception. Service takes forever to waiter on you. House was... More

Romantic, breathtaking environment, perfect for cold nights in Campos, with huge fire places, wonderful music, the best wine selection in the city and a superb service. Besides fondues, great French dishes are carefully prepared for those who know what gastronomy is all about. No wonder this restaurant is always crowded for over decades.

We were there at off season, we were the only couple in this huge stunning restaurant, yet the treated us like royalty. First of all the place looks awesome, original and certainly a special place to dine, add on impeccable service and you have a winner. The fondue is supposed to be the best in town, although I love the... More

We had the Roquefort fondue with fruit which cost $90US. It was served with a small and uninspired serving of fruit-grapes with seeds-copious bead and deep fried potato balls. I was shocked that they charged so much for this horrible fondue. The waiter did not seem interested in our feedback. A couple at the next table sent their bread back.... More
