Authentic Brazilian seafood

Sobrenatural certainly isn't going out to wow its customers with a high spec interior. It's a matter of bare walls, bare floorboards and a curious partitioned off area for the kitchen. The menu is simply and predominantly seafood, which is what they specialise in. Our dish for two was a white fish... read more

A friend and I were looking for a Brazilian restaurant in Santa Teresa/Lapa and this place was perfect! We went on the later side so there weren't many people there, but the food was great. We ordered moqueca to share -- it was plenty big and not expensive, but delicious! Would highly recommend the dish. Dessert was great too --... More

No justification for the cumulus of mistakes. a. It took around 40 minutes to get my dish on the table. This was the common pattern for the tables around b. Not the cleanest place in which I have been. Waiters did not seem to care much about cleaning tables. C. Price. Totally excessive: 75 BRS for a shrimp dish (i.e.... More

This restaurant made me join trip advisor. Food is poor and they must have 2 menus one for locals and one for tourist. Paid 5 times more than an excellent restaurant down the road. We are staying in the Santa Teresa hotel. Lunch main was R45 each here was R75!!!!!!! Avoid at all costs.

At first sight, it seems like you are about to eat heavenly delicious typical brazilian food, but the truth is it tastes like absolutely nothing. My dish had potatoes and bananas and i couldn't tell the difference between them because the texture and flavor were the exact same. It's the kind of thing you'd expect to eat in a food... More

As a fan of seafood and Brazilian moquecas, I went to this place with my family when visiting Santa Teresa. The place is not fancy but has a pretty decoration. Host and waiters are friendly and polite, even though it seems there were more customers there that they could handle. The food is really good and price is somewhat high,... More

if you are patient enough to wait 1h30 for your plate to come, then try Sobrenatural. We came for lunch and ended up having an early dinner. Don't even try to complain to the waiter. He avoids making eye contact not to be bothered. Plus, bathrooms are in terrible shape! The food is good, with zero glam (the two fishes... More

Probably the best meal I had during my recent three-day stay in Rio. The ceviche was fresh and expertly prepared. My family and I then shared a sumptuous shrimp dish w pumpkin and various spices. Brazilian food at its best.

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
