The setting is pleasant, the food was very good and the portions generous. The service was also swift and pleasant. I enjoyed it more than the first time I ate there. To eat in Nelson Mandela square is always a privileg!

Had not tried other things on the menu, as I am always on the run around this neighborhood - but their esfihas are pretty good, and you should try the Harad tea, which is WONDERFUL.

The food was nice and the price is fair. Easy to find it is a nice option to enjoy with your friends. The restaurante is in a street full of nice places. You can just go there and pick your favorite.

Like most restaurants which specialize in Arab food, there are good options for vegetarians. I tried a vegetarian kibbe which was interesting and then a pizza on arab bread which was also good. There are several restaurants and bars in Nelson Mandela Square so it is a fairly lively place. Most of the seating is outside on the pavement. It... More

I spent 3 weeks in Botafogo and this was far and away my favourite place to eat. There are lots of good restaurants around but they were expensive, Harad has excellent food at a price you can afford. Try the fillet mignon, lamburger or trout. All excellent. The beer is also good and not extortionate.

Being treated like pariah by wait staff for not being a Brazilian is not the way to run a business. After spending the day at the Olympic events and even wearing a Brazilian scarf, my friend and I arrived at Harad about 9:30pm. From the minute we sat down on an outdoor table, the wait staff treated us with disdain;... More

Service was prompt and the food was good - basic middle eastern/arabic staples cooked well. The menu was in Portuguese though and the waiters spoke little English. We took pot luck and weren't disappointed. Prices are very reasonable - a good, filling meal with a couple of drinks at £10 -15 pp.

We had lunch at this location and were overall pleased with the quality and taste of the food. However the service was very slow and a bit frustrating when the waiter wouldn't bring a glass a wine, a second beer, etc.in a timely manner so the flow of having a nice meal was disruptive. The prices were on a bit... More

Neighborhood Profile
Botafogo
In recent years, Botafogo has become one of the hottest neighbourhoods in Rio. It hosts many modern restaurants with contemporary food and many venues to listen to rock and electronic music. Its numerous bars and pubs make this area a great choice for anyone interested in a great nightlife experience - in fact, some bars in the area are open all night. Casa Daros, an art museum that showcases amazing artists from Latin America, is a must see located in a historical building in Botafogo.
