My favorite cheap eat in Rio de Janeiro! I normally watch the sunset and the people walking by from a table outside, while enjoying a beer and carne seca and aipim

Take the barbecue ! For a little more than 110 BRL, you will enjoy a barbecue in-house that you cook for yourself...and which is for 2 persons minimum. Excellent meat, a friendly place in front of a nice little beach. Many locals here, which guarantees the authenticity of the place. Friedly staff. Good to go there when you go to... More

Food was great, just one portion of the Cuban chicken was enough for two persons! Quick service, no long waiting time, everything is tasty, family-friendly and with locals eating out there as well, not overrun by tourists. Waiters were attentive, too. Recommendable!

This is a typical restaurant/bar where you can have a quick snack (a sandwich, some fried stuff) or something more as a pizza or seafood. On a nice evening, I would recommend you go relatively early and grab a table outdoor, as the sunset on the bay with views towards the Redeemer is impressive.

We stopped here while on a walking tour of Urca. We were the only patrons in the restaurant. We ordered two coffees. They were watery and served only warm. It took forever to pay, and they tried to manually add 10% service charge to the bill.

Staying in Urca

Neighborhood Profile
Urca is one of the oldest areas in Rio. Known for its incredible views of the city, the neighbourhood runs along Guanabara bay, providing visitors with an opportunity to watch the sunset from one of Rio’s greatest natural treasures: Sugarloaf Mountain (Pao de Acucar). It is said that the locals in Urca are “bon vivant,” which is one of the reasons the area attracts people of all styles and ages. Urca is the perfect place to take a stroll and appreciate the area’s beautiful architecture, enjoy a cocktail and some delicious seafood pastries at a bar, or bring a bottle of wine and enjoy it while sitting anywhere along the stone seawall known as the “mureta.”
