Visited Rio for the Olympics for a week and stopped at this spot 3 times. This place is a little more upscale and the other bars in the area. Drinks and food are delicious. We sat at the bar every time and the bartender was so nice and happy to see us each time we went. The chicken kabob wrapped... More

Struggling around Rio (Copacabana) being vegetarian. Really liked this restaurant. Modestly priced. Friendly service. Delicious food. Watch that the hors d'oeuvres offered by waiter staff are not complementary but added to your bill. Discovered fabulous local Brazilian lager called Cerveja Therezopolis Gold.

We were going to other place but saw this and we got in. Really good drinks (really good!) and the tapas (mostly fish, delicious) that keep coming, great place! Ibamos para otro lugar y vimos este y entramos. Muy buenos tragos (muy buenos!) y las tapas (mas que nada pescado, delicioso) que siguen trayendo, excelente lugar!

This is obviously not a Brazilian restaurant, but some times, you need a change. If you feel like going to a casual place near the beach to eat some tapa style dishes and have a drink, this place is a good one.

We enjoyed El Born overall. The tapas were good, but I would've liked to see more variety in what they were bringing around. The drinks were very expensive, especially the beers. The caipirinhas were worth the price because they were very big. I had one with kiwi and it was delicious. Overall, even though the place had a nice atmosphere... More

My husband & I visited Rio in June 2016 from the United States. We stayed for a week in Copacabana and didn't have any meal/restaurant plans before we arrived. We enjoyed exploring & stumbling upon different little restaurants and El Born was one of our best finds! This place is awesome! The bartenders are extremely friendly and the food and... More

My wife and I had been looking for a Rio culinary experience outside the norm, and El Born did not disappoint. We are now regulars, and have enjoyed each time we have visited. Let me clarify that this is a very crowded and very noisy bar which serves interesting, good food. As long as you can handle the first part,... More

If you are looking for great tapas, great service and great wine this is the place. We had a really enjoyable night here. It has a very European feel to it and good atmosphere. The place was very busy (we arrived around 8 and were lucky to get a table). For those staying around the Arena Copacabana hotel - it... More

This restaurant was a real find. Just around the corner from our hotel and one block from Copacobana. The staff were really impressive, giving you the perfect combination of attention and distance. The menu was very appetising - We ordered their spin on patatas bravas, the salt cod fish cakes, filet mignon rolls, small meat platter and the cheese balls.... More

We were looking for a different restaurant in the area of El Born and found it. The one we were looking for was not what we were expecting, so we decided to look around the area. We came upon El Born and were not real certain it was for us. We looked at the menu and stepped away and pulled... More

Staying in Copacabana

Neighborhood Profile
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
