If you want to taste the Spanish flavours in Rio de Janeiro Venga is the perfect place to go. I tryied "croquetas de Jamon" and "Paella meloso" and it's like heaven in your mouth. The "croquetas" have a lot of Jamon inside, I mean real Spanish Jamon, which is very dificult to find in Brazil, while the Paella was served... More

This place is inspired by the spanish tapas bars and indeed does a good job at it. You can have Spanish (and brazilian, argentinian etc) wines, Sangria and a lot of drinks in an informal atmosphere. There are lots of tapas from croquetas to mores substantial dishes and the deserts are also very good. It also have some entrees options,... More

Visited Venga as part of a three day stay in Rio. We were looking for a change from the meat heavy Brazilian restaurants we'd visited. Venga is a very small restaurant but this only adds to its charm. You may have a short wait for a table however their are tall tables on the pavement you can have a drink... More

Situated in the trendy area of Ipanema this tapas bar is the perfect setting for an evening meal. We visited on a Friday night and the place was busy and made for a great atmosphere. The restaurant has tables on the street where you can stand and have a drink while waiting for a table. The food itself was incredible,... More

Dropped in without reservation. Service was helpful speedy and friendly. Super variety of unusual tapas dishes which arrived at exactly the right time. Range of reasonably priced quality wines and beers on offer. Impressive decor in Spanish style as was everything about the venue. There is a takeaway menu available too and you're welcome to drop in just for a... More

Tucked away in Ipanema, this is a cool spot to drink some delish cocktails and grab tapas in a funky bohemian venue. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Get there a little early though as it gets busy!

We went for quick light dinner and stayed 3 hours! The place is very nice and cozy the service friendly and efficient. The food was good, wide selection of small Spanish tapas dishes with fish, see food, meet and vegetable. The wine was also good, we took a bottle of red wine recommended by our waitress and order another one... More

Nice location but: if you dont have an income tax number (brazilian one) you wont be able to conect to vengas wifi! Waiters not attentive to the customers although there are many working there Expensive place for what they serve! You wont feel like you are in spain at all! Place to see and be seeing!

Portions VERY small for what you pay. Never again. After almost 200R$ each I walked out hungry. Porções muito pequenas, preços exagerados. Nunca mais.

We were expecting a long wait; but we were guven a table on the mezzanine after about 5 minutes. The food was excellent; but fairly pricey - maybe it was the wine. BRL 400 including tip.

Staying in Ipanema

Neighborhood Profile
Ipanema is considered Rio's crown jewel. It offers the best view of the sunset from Arpoador and is inspiration for the legendary song, “The Girl from Ipanema.” Ipanema is an upscale area, home to many high-end restaurants and luxury shops, many of which can be found on the charming Garcia d'Ávila Avenue. The neighbourhood is very rich culturally, housing many art galleries that show contemporary art. There is also a great variety of nightlife in the neighbourhood, which buzzes with many options for every taste.
