We have been to four other Japanese restaurants in Rio de Janeiro but Hachiko is definitely the best. It's located in Centro near the state legislature and is busiest during lunchtime. We had a leisurely dinner there on a Saturday night. There is no set menu but instead a twelve course tasting menu prepared by the chef. The offerings are... More

Was pleasantly surprised with the food here, Japanese and Asian food fusion. The food itself is delicious and the service impeccable

This is a fusion restaurant inspered by japonese and asian cousine. I took my mother for dinner there on her birthday and we were delighted by the quality of the food and service. They offer a tasting of hot plates in between the cold dishes and both combine very well. This should be a mandatory restaurant for all at least... More

One of the best "modern" japanese restaurante I've been and for sure the best in Rio! Really tastefull food, nice combination in a rotation with all-you-can-eat fashion style! :) Not a cheap place but worth every peny

Simply go there and wait for a great "menu desgustacion"! I wouldn't say it's a traditional one, but the food is a kind of contemporaneous food and it's simply delicious! Sure you always have the option of the usual stuff, but do not hesitate to try the new!

This hard to find restaurant in Rio was well worth the visit. From start to finish, this lunch was great. The food amount was like a large dinner - the food just kept on coming! Salmon, tuna, octopus...everything in every thinkable variation. The only downside is that I'm too full! Hah! The dessert was amazing too.

I took a British acquaintance and my Norwegian sushi freak colleague to this restaurant for lunch today. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Rio. They didn't let us down, however it was not top notch this time. The flavors weren't mind blowing, but by all means, I still love this Japanese crossover fusion 'sushish' restaurant.

We had a fantastic meal here and they made us feel very welcome with our 5 month old little girl. Every dish we had was delicious, I don't like mushrooms but even their mushroom soup was delightful! It was quite pricey but it felt like our one real foodie treat during our trip.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
