Its hard to find, you have to go into this retail area and you go up the escalator and you find a strange, small restaurant with mediocre food. It's in an indoor retail mall-type area. The people who work there are nice. Not very expensive.

When you're shopping at Visconde de Pirajá Street and need to have lunch, go to Salpicado, where you will have a lunch with very good food and very good service in a calm place, where you can relax to continuing shopping after that.

It is in the heart of Ipanema, in a quiet shopping galeria, and it has a homestyle cooking that have even fried eggs and these kind off stuff at choice. It is a great place to have an easy lunch, service is always kind and thoughfull.

I went there to check out if it really could be true that a small restaurant inside a mall should be a top 10 restaurant in Rio. And despite the odd location, I really recommend this place for lunch. They have a small variety of snacks, sandwiches, pastas, main courses, and a few daily specials. I had a penne paste... More

Quick lunch, good food, very good price! The atmosphere is the weakest link for sure, is in the midle of a mall small mall and the tables spread in the midle of the way. But still a good lunch. I recomend.

This small restaurant nestled in the very heart of Ipanema is surely a must go!! The food and service are excellent, you can't go wrong with any dish you choose from the menu!! If ever in Rio, Salpicado is a place to visit and enjoy a lovely lunch at very affordable prices!

This restaurant is definitely a find! It has a mix of traditionally Brazilian dishes with more contemporary dishes. It's worth trying the "feijoada" (traditional Brazilian dish that is centered around the beans) on Saturdays and Fridays, or the salmon with lemon risotto. Try after the lunch rush during the week, since it gets packed.

Staying in Ipanema

Neighborhood Profile
Ipanema is considered Rio's crown jewel. It offers the best view of the sunset from Arpoador and is inspiration for the legendary song, “The Girl from Ipanema.” Ipanema is an upscale area, home to many high-end restaurants and luxury shops, many of which can be found on the charming Garcia d'Ávila Avenue. The neighbourhood is very rich culturally, housing many art galleries that show contemporary art. There is also a great variety of nightlife in the neighbourhood, which buzzes with many options for every taste.
