We decided to come here to eat because our guide advised us to do so if we wanted to eat one of the best feijoadas in Rio and he was right! Excellent meal, feijoada served with rice, farofa, green cabbage and some orange slices. We drank an excellent caipirinha together with our meal. Honest price (less than 100$R in 2... More

It took us a while to find this place. Very traditional, very Santa Teresa. Simple food done well and good service. I loved the atmosphere and felt like a Carioca when I was there.

We came here on recommendation of our local airbnb host. The place was packed full of 'Cariocas' and the atmosphere was great. We had the local dish 'feijoada' which a bean and meat stew served with rice, cabbage and polenta. Would highly recommend it

I walked up here from the Escadaria steps, took about 15 minutes along one road. I sat down at a table about midday on a Sunday and it was very busy, with a queue forming outside straight after. By the time I left it the queue was long and full of locals and tourists. Nice atmosphere and good service. Pork... More

This place doesn't look that great but the feijoada is absolutely addictive. Came back three times in a row for lunch. We were staying down the street at Saint Teresa Hotel. You can smell the garlic when the Chef starts cooking down the street which serves to beckon you to come to lunch... Gained 5 pounds but it was worth... More

It is ALWAYS busy - night and day as we'd walk past it. We didn't really see what the fuss was all about - better pricing for food and drinks in other bars.

A simple eatery in Santa Teresa is great to share with friends a feijoada. The resto has a great vibe, the service is friendly and the price is very democratic.

This bar is recomended by several tourist magazines/ guides, as for typical Brazilian food, in the nice Santa Teresa area. The set up is nice as a local ambience, the atention is just "propper", but the food is poor. Mostly because they have frozen components to the dishes you get badly cooked soaked dishes.. with total lack or very little... More

Asked for fried chicken and got grilled chicken. It was tough. Only could eat the fries. Paid anyway. Stick to the Rio food to be safe.

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
