We were given a gift certificate to this restaurant as a Christmas gift. We went out to their web site to get a little more information but it didn't have a lot of information there other that the menu items. Last night, we decided to...go. When we got there we immediately saw that it was a very small restaurant and that it was packed. We went in anyway hoping that we might be able to get a table even with a little bit of a wait. After a bit of a wait, we were approached by the hostess who greeted us with quite curtly with this, "What's your name?" There was no greeting, no welcome to Bistro San Martin, nothing but what's your name? We gave it to her and she looked at her reservation list. We had not made reservations because we had no idea it was going to be so small or so busy. She then turned her attention to the couple behind us who did have reservations and took them to their table. She then returned to us and told us that they were completely booked and that they would not be able to accommodate us. A couple of things would have helped. One would be to give people who go to the web site a heads up about the place being small and that reservations are recommended. Secondly, they should teach their hostesses to be a bit more customer friendly. We were really turned off by the experience and may not goo back even though we have a gift certificate.More

I love when we have a chance to go to the Bistro. It is always a treat. We love their mushroom pastry appetizer. My husband loves the bacon wrapped steak and my favorite dish is the ruhbard prawns, made into an entree with risotto. My...mouth is watering just thinking about it.More

hard to believe this little gem is in tiny Arlington. The food is what you would expect to find at a Michelin 5 star restaurant. All food is prepared on site- no pre-packaged pre-prepared franken food. You can even watch the chef working the kitchen....They can accommodate the palate of young diners. my teen loves going there and trying new things. It is not your run of the mill chain type restaurant atmosphere or food. Defiantly a place to impress a date or have a special occasion meal. Foods are from all over not just american. i believe i saw some meals that were vegetarian- not sure if they are vegan.More

Bistro is without a doubt the best food in Arlington if not Washington. Everything is cooked to perfection and Steve makes every visit memorable. One of the nicest people you will ever meet.

The four of us really enjoyed our time last night at the Bistro. We had salads, main courses and of course, dessert. The portions were perfect. Everything was great! Our waitress did an amazing job.

We have stopped at this restaurant whenever we are in the area over the last 15 years or so and it is so reliable! Our latest stop involved a couple of glasses of wine to go with our meal which started with a shared appetizer...of prawns with a strawberry and rhubarb sauce. So, sooo good! We followed that with crab cakes and the daily special of halibut. Both dishes were excellent and were of the quality we have come to expect from this fine establishment. We have seen the restaurant grow over the years yet they always manage to please and provide the same consistent quality. Service is always pleasant and there seems to be very little turnover in staff. Put this on your list of places to go!More

Everything is delicious! Our favorite is the seared jumbo prawns and the lemon creme brûlée is a must try! The staff is friendly and always remembers us!

Bistro San Martin is truly a special place with expertly prepared dishes in a warm and cozy environment. What a gem hidden in little downtown Arlington. We celebrated my birthday here and the entire experience was absolutely perfect. The Bistro has mastered the balance of...upscale but not pretentious! We started with drinks (the lemon drop was wonderful), followed by the best Caesar Salad I’ve ever had, and then we ordered the filet mignon and stuffed chicken. Both were perfectly prepared and we had to stop ourselves from licking the plate clean. We will continue to find reasons to return and explore the rest of the menu!More

This masterful accomplishment in a small Pacific Northwest town about an hour north of Seattle has for years been a hallmark of classic French cuisine. With an excellent wait staff, a varied and value priced wine list and the masterful output by Chef Martin aided...by his partner and manager, Steve, time after time makes return visits inevitable. No matter what menu items ordered including in-house created desserts this is a fine culinary experience that is always repeated. BRAVO to the entire bistro teamMore

Why drive to Seattle when we have the best meal in our backyard and treated more like good friends. The Bistro in Arlington is one of those special places. We go for romantic dinners, bring friends, send friends and come away each time ready to...make a new reservation to get back for another meal. We're thankful we have such a gem here in Arlington.More
