We have been to Liberty Tavern a number of times. Most visits have been respectable. On this visit, our daughter and her two kids joined us. We were seated in the corner to the left of the top of the stairs, and about froze to death. Although it was nearly 70 degrees outside, other diners were leaving their jackets on.... More

While waiting for our table, we ordered crispy lamb ribs and drinks. The ribs (presented with yogurt, shaved fennel, and peppers) were so tasty, and the portion was ample. For entrees, we enjoyed branzino (a flaky seabass) with mashed potatoes and squash gnocchi (with sautéed kale, walnuts and Gorgonzola). Both were outstanding! We finished the evening with hot chocolate panna... More

On my last trip to the DC area I met friends here for lunch on Saturday. The first floor of the restored historic property houses an inviting bar and lounge and the upstairs opens to a welcoming dining room that is comfortable and provided the perfect space to visit. We ordered off the menu while others enjoyed a beautifully presented... More

The service is good, even at rush hour. The menu has a good variety of typical american fare, but it is all prepared well. I'll be back.

We enjoyed an amazing brunch for our extended family of 14. We were nervous when making reservations because we were told there was no room upstairs so we'd be sitting in a lounge area downstairs. Were worried if the older folks and kids would have a problem getting upstairs for the buffet, and eating in non-traditional tables. Turned out to... More

Lively bar scene. We were there on a Sunday night and it was hopping. Food was quite good as was the service. Overall a great fun spot.

We stopped by around 2:30 pm and were seated right away. The staff was very friendly and courteous throughout our experience. My wife ordered a Cubano Panino sandwich and I went with the Grilled Cheese - we both decided to order a side of potato salad. The bar area was quiet and relaxing; we didnt get a chance to visit... The Name Liberty Tavern makes you think that its a sports bar... However, it is a sports bar with a good chef, we had a great meal! -- The décor is casual and most times you have to make reservations because the locals know its a hot spot... Must try

Simply put. Upstairs vs Downstairs. Both have their merits. Downstairs is usually packed with the younger professional type. Merriment abound. Noise level a bit much for my taste. Seems like a happening place with a nice bar, but just not my style. Upstairs is delightfully calm, cozy and has a more seasoned crowd. The menu and wines have seasonal additions,... More

I like the feel of this place for a date night out. The lower floor is primarily a bar and the upper floor has larger tables for meals. Both are very nice and pleasant. Where this place loses points is prices. They're not cheap and portions aren't so large to warrant them in some cases
