So my daughter and I travel over to this steak house having checked reviews. The food was good, not great. What spoiled it was the location of our table, which was in a very unattractive part of the restaurant where there are three tables each seating two people. There is zero atmosphere, no decoration on the walls, and you feel... More

I travel down to Arlington on business about four times per year. I always make it a point to have at least one dinner at Ray's the Steaks. The steak dinner is always perfect. I usually get the filet mignon in one of the different styles they offer. It is served with bread and unlimited creamed spinach and mashed potatoes.... More

Ray's the Steaks is often well reviewed - but why defies me. I've been twice and in both occasions the steaks were average, staff were slow to respond to customers' needs and (like many restaurants) the sound level was so high you couldn't converse with those you were seated with. One of Arlington's landmark restaurants - but you can find... More

It always seems there are three types of steak places: overpriced and stuffy, overpriced and mediocre service, or cheap and mediocre food quality. Ray's opens up a fourth type: great steak and just plan nice service. I went with a friend for the first time and the food was very good. I ordered a filet and out came a remarkable... More

The food is of high quality and the wine list is good. I'd give my husband two thumbs down if he chose this for a date night. I found the decor pedestrian and the selections predictable. We live in the neighborhood, love a great steak and I've specifically only gone there for dinner meetings. On the upside, what they do,... More

A colleague took me to Ray's without letting me know what to expect. When we walked in and I saw the dated wallpaper and the waiters, I thought I was in the 70's. But when the served the steaks, with the exceptional sauces, it was clear why this place is an institution. Go there!

When my family and I went to Washington DC, always returned to Rays. The lobster biscuit soup is delicious. The variety of steaks it's great, the mashed potatoes with garlic and asparagus are awesome. The service always is excellent. For eight years we enjoying the cuisine.

Ray's is absolutely amazing food! I have had steak and fish here and it always perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned. I love the sides available and sharing this great place with friends and family.

Order the hanger steak. Be prepared for greatness. Hands down the best steak in the country. Sides are wonderful, too. Ray really knows what he's doing.

Someone who knows the owner had a major Woodrow Wilson for this place so I agreed to go. Ehhh, so ok. My, let's say friend, was excited about everything I just agreed with all their wonderful comments, but not so excited. They need to add some flair to everything: food, staff, ambience. Felt like a catered meal at a funeral... More
