My girlfriend asked me to take her to this restaurant for her birthday. Wasn't quite sure why she was so insistent on this place, as I suggested numerous other places that I have been in the past. I went ahead and made a reservation for two. Upon arrival, the staff was very pleasant and friendly. I also enjoyed the atmosphere,we... More

The food would be 4 star (not 5) but I dinged them for the service. Carlyle is an Arlington institution and, sadly, has an institutional feel. They use zone service, which adds to the vibe that dining here is a process rather than an event. We recently dined on a Saturday night and my reaction to this highly touted restaurant... More

We requested a quiet table and the 3 of us were seated on the 2nd floor in a booth. Excellent wine & craft beer selections. Outstanding pureed corn & crab chowder. Superb lobster roll and steaks...all reasonably priced with a pleasant wait staff in attractive surroundins.

Consider this place if you find yourself without Sunday brunch reservations. They don't require reservations, but you can call ahead to put your name on the waiting list during peak times. The dining rooms are very large, service professional and prices reasonable. The calamari is fantastic. Do not decline the breadbasket at brunch because it contains warm beignets. The menu... More

We chose this restaurant while vacationing in the DC area because it was the top rated eatery in Arlington, VA. In the beginning, everything was fine: attractive Art Deco place located on a charming street filled with people, dogs, and other restaurants and shops. We called ahead and there was no wait at all. We requested seating on the second... More

I went there last Saturday with 9 others to celebrate my nephew's upcoming wedding. The menu was diverse enough to accommodate 10 men from ages 20 to 63 - including a vegetarian. (I would have liked more vegetarian or vegan options, though) We had everything from French toast to sandwiches to soup and salad. Everything was perfect. Cooked and served... More

I've been going to this bar/restaurant for like 30 years; it is consistently a place to create great memories and experiences. The food and service are excellent. Once (many years) I had a giddy flirtatious time with a most beautiful bartender; me being such a gentleman and wanting to get home to sleep, didn't pursue it of course! Still enjoy... More

The Carlyle is my favorite affordable restaurant in Arlington. Great salads. Jambalaya and seafood are winners. I also like the Sunday brunch. It is part of a family of restaurants but dinner at the Carlyle always seems like a special night out.

The pun is intended. In this area, throughout NOVA, the Great American company owns a conglomerate of reasonably priced locations, good food, and attentive servers. I have been coming to the Carlyle off and on for years, and it never fails to leave me happy and well fed upon I leave. The Bakery, which services all of the local restaurants,... More

The service is great, the food is excellent, and the ambience is wonderful! Eat upstairs since it's less noisy there. TexMex egg rolls for an appetizer (unless they have bruschetta ... then get that!). We love the lobster cobb salad and the crab cakes. The filet mignon is excellent! And if you are there during strawberry season, you will fall... More

High energy, American bistro with seasonal outside dining and year round classic fare. A perennial brunch favorite.
