This was the 3rd time that my wife, daughter, and I had been to this cozy gelato place not too far from the Amtrak Station. We come down from Surry. New Hampshire, to visit with our daughter when she runs the Marine Corp Marathion. The...person waiting on us recognized our daughter from a year ago. What a memory!
We ate outside on this balmy evening.
Tip: Prepare to try the free samples and have more than one scoop!More
Nothing is a good as a well crafted gelato and Casa Rosada does it right. Flovers change but each of them (familar and invented) is rich and delicious! We particularly like affogato -- ice cream in expresso! Stop by and enjoy just a small cup...of something to please your palate!More
My family and I spent over three weeks in Italy a few years ago. We were averaging two gelatos a day, wanting to try as many gelaterias as we could. I can't tell you if Dondoli in San Gimignano is, as many assert, the best...in Italy. But it may well be, it is wonderful! There are a lot of reasons to go to San Gimignano, but Gelateria Dondoli is the only reason you need. The point is, I know good gelato when I taste it. And Casa Rosada makes really good gelato. If you’re in Old Town Alexandria, don’t miss it.More
Stopped in on a Saturday night. There was a line but it moved very quickly. Among us, we have a lactose intolerance, and we were pleased to see that their sorbets are water based (no dairy) and they also have some soy milk based choices....The dairy free chocolate was very good. We also had hazelnut (delicious, like frozen hazelnuts with pieces), chocolate peanut butter (decadent), and pina colada (refreshing). It’s a little pricey but worth it! The portions are generous and they have a pet friendly court yard in the back.More
...so far, my favorite this time around!
Especially the dulce de leche and the berry mix were exceptional. Stracciatella was excellent too! Portions are generous, prices acceptable and the service is just great!
I travel from Idaho to Alexandria 2-3 times a year and I always make sure to stop by Casa Rosada (I even carry my discount punch card). There is a great selection of the usual and some very creative flavors, and the quality/taste is outstanding!...They have a quaint little patio behind the shop but I usually carry and eat my tasty treat as I walk along nearby King Street to the waterfront.More
