Perfect Olde Town Alexandria diner. Nice breakfast menu. Delicious food. Ample portions (i.e. rivals what I might have eaten from the buffet). Courteous, attentive wait staff.

We had the private room for family and friends after my father’s burial service at Arlington National Cemetery. The room was perfect, the service was perfect, and the food was perfect! The people from far away raves about the crab cakes in particular and the...room gave us chance to come together and share our stories, our laughter and our tears. Thank you so much!!!More
We are long time customers and fans of The Royal. The staff is kind and professional and the food is excellent. Our favorite is their Sunday brunch with omelettes and waffles made to order. We have traveled many places and never had a better omelette...than the ones made at the Royal. The Royal is an Alexandria landmark and deservedly so.More
I've been coming here regularly twenty-five years. Great food, great service, and the greatest staff.
The breakfast I had was the best breakfast I have had in the five years I've lived in Virginia. Moreover the Royal's breakfast can compete with all the great breakfast spots in NYC unless you fancy great Nova. My friend said his pancakes were superb....I can say fried eggs over medium were perfectly cooked. (They seldom are.). The bacon had wonderful flavor and seemed not to have so why eternity on the grill turning to cardboard. The potatoes were real and they were homefried with onions on a grill. They were not deep fried in a fryolater. The toast was generously buttered, made from fresh (not stale) bread. And the coffee, generally liability even in the best breakfast spots, was well above average. Serviced was pleasant and efficient. Anyone visiting Alexandria should get out of the hotel (where hour scrambled eggs will be cold) and over to the Royal!.More
This restaurant is how you define where a great breakfast is offer at reasonable prices. Menu is simple to read with regular choices. A choice of buffet or ala cart are offered. Place is often crowded during weekends but be patient to be seated as...customers come and go. Space between chairs and tables are far apart, often you can hear other customers' conversation. Food quality is not high but still mouth watering and appetizing and servers are gracious and polite. We will visit again when we are in the area.More
Great location. Food and service were both top notch. We visited mid-week and it was moderately busy. Home fries were delicious. Very welcoming atmosphere. Definitely a place we would visit again.
Little Mom and Pop diner that serves very good food. I had the pork chop, and it was cooked to perfection. I have paid more at high dollar restaurants and got overcooked and bone dry pork chops that cost a lot more. Friendly staff and...a cozy atmosphere. Will definitely be back.More
They do a Thanksgiving Day buffet, as well as a take-away feast. We opted to do the take-away. Just picked up our Thanksgiving Feast to go! Can't wait to eat it! Everything looks amazing and such large portions. Mimi was so nice on the phone,...then when I went to pick it up, Mimi, Cruz and Roman all carried the items to my car. It was a lot of food and such a great price too! Everyone was so friendly, I look forward to also eating here in person sometime. Thanks Royal Restaurant!More
Excellent choice for breakfast and lunch. Service is with a smile— they outdo themselves with friendliness but it’s no act. Lovely outdoor seating in a quiet end of Old Town
The dinner menu was fantastic! The Delmonico steak topped with herb butter s one of the best that I have had. The homemade peach cobbler was outstandingWe enjoy getting good service and outstanding food at a price point that is reasonable. Great choice!
This 70 year old establishment has been a staple for the area and is just getting better! Fresh locally sourced food and excellent service by loyal 20 year employees and a new GM and Ex Chef. Their Sat/Sun Brunch Buffet features a made to order...omelette/waffle station, New outside dining for the transitioned neighborhood, Will be back often. Great value fir the outstanding quality and service. Looks like a new chef and GM are making positive changes.
They have a wide variety of food on the breakfast buffet. Omelets are made to order. Staff is kind and courteous.
I do not recommend this place for breakfast. The food is subpar, and for what it is overpriced. For example, a glass of orange juice is $6.00. We tried a side of biscuits and gravy; the biscuits were very obviously microwaved and stale. The breakfast...potatoes were gray, likely made from day old potatoes. The bread for the toast was stale. The service was below average as well, as nobody checked on how the food was, and I sat waiting for someone to take my check for 10 minutes. My coffee cup was never refilled. Find somewhere else.More
