Yesterday, My husband and I went to this restaurant, and to our surprise, it initially started with a bad experience. The lady at the front entrance, assuming her job was to greet and seat the customers, was rude and unprofessional. As we entered the restaurant,...she brushed us off with questions we tried to ask and immediately seated a white couple who came in behind us. They even observed her behavior and apologized. However, Justin, our Waiter, was excellent and made the night seem a little better.. The food was average, and the jazz band was fantastic. Overall, the experience was okay.More

Took the wife here for a mother's day dinner out and so glad we came. The waiter was really nice and attentive, he took our orders right away and kept checking on us to ensure we were during fine. For an appetizer I had the...gumbo, it was really good with a very slight kick, although it would've been better with some sausage added. For an entrée I had the Jambalaya, it was great, had a lot of sausage, chicken, shrimp and some really good rice. My wife had the fried chicken with collard green. She like both, but really enjoyed the greens that were cooked with pork and had a little kick to them. Overall a very good meal.More

Unexpected surprise! I don't smoke but the smoky ambiance in a Speakeasy era bar with an amazing blues band the Masters of Space and Time- was such a step back in time to old charm when people wore fedoras and sequins

Made reservations for 3 for 7:15 to celebrate mother’s day with my sisters. Arrival experience was a turn off . The host didn’t even acknowledge whether it’s a yes or no . He simply walked away without saying a word and then he came back...finally. Another person sat us down with out saying anything. Waiter took our order which took an our to bring us the food. I ordered Rib Eye, but what came out was grilled meat!!! Never saw a steak in my life like this. Do not recommend this place for any thing except the Jambalaya which my other sister ordered. The place is not the same as it use to be!! The waiters wS really nice . She tried her best to accommodate. She polite, and ver attentive. The problem is the food. The should do better . I will never go back and do mot recommend itMore

I've been a loyal patron of 219 Restaurant for over 15 years. In recent years the service and quality of food have declined on upper floor, but I continued my loyal patronage mainly because of the live music as I support venues in the area...that offer live music. Things took a nasty turn with the owner Patty when during peak of COVID last summer I found the upstairs crowded and the bar area shoulder to shoulder in defiance of local safety regulations while the other establishments were maintaining limited capacity as required. When I complained to Patty that conditions were becoming unsafe she yelled and cursed at me and banned me from her restaurant in humiliating and disrespectful fashion despite my loyal patronage. As such, I called the Alexandria Health Dept and as it turned out there were several complaints and violations in that period and the investigator pointed out how this ruins things for other businesses trying to comply when this causes COVID hot spots that forces the City to shut down all the restaurants. I later learned that the owner continued to ignore Alexandria Health Dept requests to comply and they had to temporarily shutter the restaurant as a result. That was last summer. I returned after first of the year and wished Patty a happy new year and she was hostile and again insisted I stay out of her restaurant again humiliating me sending me out of the restaurant blaming me for her lost business. This is despicable treatment of a longstanding customer that has given her restaurant thousands of dollars of business and had an honest concern about safety for her employees and customers and she blames her consequences on me rather than have any integrity and decency during this health crisis. This owner has shown no class or integrity viciously blaming a loyal patron for her own transgressions that reaped her own consequences with no respect and no gratitude for loyal patronage. I strongly recommend any other restaurant in Old Town and I will continue to support other more deserving local establishments that offer live music with a lot more class!More

The food here definitely had an Cajun authentic taste in the heart of Alexandria. I had the blackened salmon with the roasted Brussels sprouts and I loved the taste and flavor. Among the food, the decor and ambiance was spot on. The only downside that...evening is our service/server wasn't that great. Regardless of that, the owner was friendly and I would definitely go again.More

Summer of CoVid and work travel for the first time since March, we arrived in Alexandria, Virginia we made it to this restaurant just walking from our hotel. We were the only customer, we sat outside and got the personalized service. It rained right before...we walked there so the temperature was in low 70’s. In this strange times, we had a perfect dinner. The server was full of humor, he was great. Food was great and we had great company amongst us. Appetizers was fantastic, main course just fine. Great cocktails and all together it was a perfect dinner. Apprehensions and hesitations are all around these days. But we do not succumb to fears, we took every precaution to have this gathering for work. We selected one of the safest city, lowest incidences of cases and trending down to have this meeting. It will work out wellMore

We’ve lived here for a number of years & always pass by, saying we need to try this place! This weekend we finally stopped in for dinner! The decor was perfect for a romantic dinner for two: chandeliers, a warm fire in the fireplace, a...red ceiling and low lighting for ambiance! Our server was attentive and helpful with food & drinks, but didn’t come by excessively! I had the pan seared duck breast, Brussel sprouts and parsnip purée! I wasn’t super hungry & thought I’d take half of it home! It was so delicious that I ate the whole serving! The duck wasn’t too fatty, just right! The Brussel sprouts were outrageously good! My dining partner got the Jambalaya. He said it was good but liked mine much better! Food envy!!!More

What a wonderful time, met there for the first time with two other couples to experience great customer service, great atmosphere. All enjoyed their plentiful portioned meals. I specifically ordered shrimp and grits, jambalaya and of course the warm appetizer bread served before the meal....The shrimp and grits was amazing. Several shrimp perfectly cooked on a bed of gits with a very tasty sauce. The meals ordered by other guests varied from fried chicken to salmon. Everyone praised the meals for their taste and portions. I only ordered local IPA for a beverage. It was good as well. Our server was warm and friendly and tended to our every need. Cheesecake and coffee wrapped it up, excellent too. We later attempted to check out the cigar bar, but too crowded, we'll come back another time perhaps. I would recommend this resturant to couples and family get-togethers.More

Vibe is just right after a fine meal in Old Town. Just stroll in and get cosy, enjoy great playing. Problem begins when you order drinks. It's not the too high prices, it the attitude of bar tenders and servers immediately puts you off. This...festers like a sore the whole night right up to their demanding of tips as you pay the bill. Oh my goodness.More

I work in Old Town and come here weekly for drinks, food, and dancing along with live music upstairs or dancing to DJ spinning in the basement called " the bayou" It's fun and the staff are very nice! It has more of a masculine...feel and the top floor bar has a cigar lounge if you want to smoke!More

Just got back from a disappointing meal of Shrimp Creole. The few times I've made it at home - mine was better. It was basically tails on shrimp in a thin, slightly spicy, red sauce, with a scoop of white rice added on top of...the sauce. That restaurant would last about 10 seconds if it were transplanted to New Orleans. It had none of the flavor complexity it's supposed to have. And the accompanying dinner rolls were easily recognizable Pepperidge Farm rolls from the grocery store. Oh well. It was edible.More

So, I was waiting for my partner and let her know I was going to get a drink at Two Nineteen Restaurant. I sat at the bar. Debbie, a server, and Eva, the bartender recommended a Double Oak Woodford. If you love bourbon, order the...Double Oak Woodford!!! Also, upon their recommendation, I ordered the Blackened Hell Fire Burger, that has pepper jack cheese, siracha aioli, spicy shallot rings and brioche roll. Knock you off your seat great burger. They probably ground up a filet it tasted so good.More

A group of us got together for a reunion, and went to the Two Nineteen for food, conversation, beer, and cigars. It was a very pleasant evening. I decided to order the salmon, which had been recommended to me. It was a good decision; the...salmon was prepared perfectly, and was moist and delicious. The waiter recommended a good lager which was on draft, and that perfectly complimented the meal. We went upstairs for cigars and a final beer or two, but after we were settled in a band came in and started playing. Unfortunately, the noise drove us out, but other guests seemed to enjoy it.More
