This place is been there for a long time. I moved here from Germany 9 years ago. Great back then and still great.

Laporta's was superb! Authentic Italian food with a great atmosphere and live Jazz music. Our waiter, Frankie, was fun, friendly and helpful. We went on a Tuesday night and they have a fantastic special - two entrees and a bottle of wine for $28.99 (available Monday also). We had their sangria and it was delicious - spicy cinnamon and apple... More
We were in Alexandria for a conference and went here for dinner. Very convenient to our hotel and Old Town. Another major plus is that they have a dinner special Monday and Tuesday evenings. Two entrees and a bottle of house wine for $30. They had a nice selection of entrees for the special and the house wine wasn't bad.... More
The house sangria is very good, please eat the fruit😄. Italian food at its finest. The portions are the right size and pasta and sausage dish is enough for 2. I had the scallops and pasta, talk about scallops cooked to the right temperature. You could cut with your folk and melted in my mouth.
Although my husband made reservations well in advance and our party of four arrived right on time and the restaurant portion of the establishment wasn't half full we were seated in the bar side, which was a Great Disappointment and had our guests been younger and more mobile we would have insisted on moving. The waiter told us about the... More
Nice dining area away from a loud bar scene. Prices were moderate to expensive depending upon the dish. Had to request the bread be warmed but great service.

There is view of the outside through large window panes and soft music (jazz) percolating through the air; if you sit in the room at the back you can... More
Food was overall good, I had the chicken dish, which had a lot of sauce, but was very good. Companions ordered a variety of dishes, and everyone seemed to clear their plates. Sever (Jim?) was excellent, attentive and friendly. Only downside was it's a loud place. Was hard to have a conversation at a table of 6. Worth stopping by... More
We were a group of six and everyone loved La Porta. The range of choices is amazing, the wine list fantastic and the music made the night. Thank you Phil!
While visiting DC and staying in Alexandria, we wanted a nice meal. Talking to our hotel receptionist and our shuttle driver, they both had suggested LaPorta's. We walked in and we seated right away. Loved the jazz group that was playing and found it was easy for us to talk over the music ...perfect atmosphere. The four of us at... More
