After visiting grand museums and fancy restaurants in Alexandria, Arlington and Georgetown, having supper in an Irish Pub was a welcome change of pace. I loved my Bangers and Mash, and enjoyed several pints of beer, while my blushing bride ate beer battered shrimp with gusto, washing it down with hard cider on tap. It really seemed to be a... More

Went with a large group. We were seated right away. The service was excellent. We had some very good food and cold beer. If in Old Town Alexandria worth the time to go to Murphy's.

Murphy's had a very attentive staff, great service, WONDERFUL security. The atmosphere was so much fun- very authentic to the Irish pubs I've been to. It filled up pretty quickly- so make sure you get there!

Typical Irish Bar Food which is ok, lots of fun Irish beer and a great crowd. Great place to meet up with friends for a drink or just to listen to some good music.

This feels like an Irish Pub and delivers on authentic Irish favorites. They also serve regular American pub food as well. Good selection of beers to boot. I got the fish and chips on my last visit. It was good fish with a tasty crisp batter. Others had the pulled pork and chicken tenders. All were happy with their meals.... More

Murphy's is a fun and welcoming Irish pub. Paul is a great bar and the food is better than the usual pub fare. One great thing is that the downstairs bar has limited TVs so you concentrate on the friends you are with or the friends you are making. The seafood platter is great!

We made Murphys our first port of call on our visit to Alexandria. Turned out to be a great decision. The Irish Breakfast / champagne brunch was a fantastic way to start the day. The food was faultless, service fantastic and the pub itself oozes charm. Highly recommend to anyone.

Went to dinner with 4 other friends. I ordered the Sheppards Pie, my friends ordered Jameson Steak and Corned Beef and Cabbage. This was some good food...Sheppards Pie was great and my friends said they enjoyed their meals. Staff was friendly but the restaurant was HOT...I (and my friends) were all sweating (dripping) by the time we finished dinner.

If you want a beer and bar food come here, if you want live irish-american band come here... If you want to be able to hear your neighbor talk don't come here. If you think you are going to just hang out and chill don't come here. This place is busy, and loud and unless you just want to listen... More

My husband had beef and potato pie. I had Irish stew. Both were very tasty. Our server was attentive and friendly. After a LOT of walking it was a nice place to sit and enjoy a good meal.
