We love Union Street Public House! Our son lives in the area & we love this place. Great atmosphere, bar & food. This was our 2nd trip out and where we decided would be perfect to have dinner after his college graduation. We are looking...forward to stopping in again when we are out in December for parade weekend.More

We dined in the main bar area, and the bartenders were very friendly and efficient. Food was good. Later, we joined a group of friends in the whiskey bar for drinks. They have an extensive variety of good bourbons and other whiskeys, and the bartender...was highly skilled at mixing up specialty drinks. Union Street Public House will be on our itinerary any time we visit Old Town Alexandria.More

We had trouble finding a place with seating available for lunch but we were able to grab the last open table in the bar area here. The food was tasty and the staff was kind and prompt. We’ll be back next time we’re in Alexandria.

Not many options to choose from, but the selections hit the mark. Among the many eateries in the area, you can't really miss if your expectations are average. For the lack of selection alone, this is a good place to chalk up among the Ok's...on the list.More

This was our first visit and we will be sure to visit again. I loved the atmosphere. I wish I would have gotten the name of our waiter because he was just a very nice guy. We started with oysters. This was the only food...choice I hope the restaurant improves. They oysters were just ok. We had clam chowder soup also - yum. Then trout - very yum and Gumbo with pasta - yum. And then ended with a banana bread pudding - very yum. All the while our waiter kept a very good eye on us to make sure we were happy.More

We enjoyed a terrific dining experience here today. We had a late lunch/early dinner here and the food was excellent. The service was top notch and the bartender, Christopher was entertaining and engaging. He was attentive to our needs and kept us engaged. Even the...background music was low and pleasing with classic rock. We will certainly return.More

Union Street Public House was a great experience for numerous reasons. I had a reservation with my sister for 7:45, but they kindly took us at 7:15 because she got off work early. The burger was amazing. But most of all, Union Street Public House...was a great experience because I was able to have a lengthy conversation with my sister, and they never asked us to leave or bothered us. In fact, our waiter kept bringing water long after we had finished the meal.More

Two stars are generous - and are given only because our server, Emmanuel, was outstanding. The lady at the hostess stand was also attentive and kind. The food was ABYSMAL. My husband and I had eaten here twice before and were looking forward to another...pleasant experience. We arrived starving, which is probably how we managed to eat about half of our meals. The second my steak arrived I knew it was not going to be good. It literally looked like the sole of a shoe and tasted how I imagine one would. It was undercooked so I sent it back. I at least wanted it cooked properly if I was to attempt eating it. Completely flavorless. Asked if they had a sauce or glaze of some sort I could have for it (it was VERY dry) and was given an odd steak sauce like condiment. The smashed potatoes with leeks are not smashed or mashed - they are boiled. They were awful. My husband had fish and chips, which he typically loves wherever he orders from - there was no fish to be found. Maybe a sliver or two amidst a pile of flavorless breading. Fries were ok but soggy. My house salad looked like someone went in the backyard, pulled some weeds and threw them in a bowl. A couple of cherry tomato halves and onion pieces on top. That’s it. No presentation of the food whatsoever - not a garnishment of any kind. The entire meal was literally terrible. We shared a piece of chocolate cake because we were both still so hungry - it was great, thank goodness. I remained calm throughout the experience because I knew our server was doing his best and we tipped him well because he deserved it. But whomever is in the kitchen is making the entire establishment look bad. I would not eat here again, but I will stop in for drinks, or coffee and dessert, hoping to have Emmanuel as a server again. He is an asset and I really felt for him.More

Came in for a bathroom stop as all other spots are closed inside. This place allowed me to use the bathroom and were friendly. So I bought a beer to go. Friendly staff. Decent prices for drinks. I would come back to try the food...and drink more.More

We ate here as DC and surrounding areas were implementing the restaurant shut down (Covid-19); As such, we were thrilled to find a place still serving. They took the health restrictions seriously (wiping down the table, moving chairs apart, etc.). The food was very good...(fish and chips, and crab cake sandwich). The staff were friendly, the owner came out and chatted for a bit. This is a good place to stop in for a quick bite and or beer. I would visit this restaurant again!More

Bad service, cold bad food. Took forever to get served drinks and food, and almost an hour to get the check which was wrong three times. Don't bother going here.

We ate at this pub after the wonderful President's Day parade. We got a table in the bar immediately and the service was friendly. I had the fish and chips and it was nothing special - average batter with a mountain of shoestring fries. She...had the salmon salad which was much better and served over spinach with feta but had a few scant pecans and too much dressing. Great beer selection so if you're looking for beer and pub grub this fits the bill. The tab came to $51 for one beer and two lunches.More

I didn’t see any in there but the Old Town seems to be very dog friendly as there were plenty at the local restaurants and cafes
