Dinner at Gadsby's Tavern after visiting Mt. Vernon--ordered George Washington's favorite dinner, duck with corn pudding. Started the meal with French onion soup with Gruyere cheese, delicious. Enjoyed the duck dinner, the corn pudding was very good, there was a cabbage dish that was not my favorite but interesting. The experience of dining at the tavern just being part of... More

We had a delightful lunch here yesterday! This is a very attractive historic site - the servers are in colonial attire - service was outstanding! The menu selection was very nice for lunch - my husband and I enjoyed a delicious onion soup, he had a great salad topped with grilled chicken and I loved my beef and melted brie... More

Beautiful, historic tavern in a beautiful neighborhood. Our waitress was efficient but not very friendly. Our food (we had the duck & the salmon) was okay but nothing great. I wouldn't recommend this place.

We stopped in for drinks and appetizers. Nice service, good food and very historic atmosphere. Our server was very gracious and suggested good beer. The wedge salad and crab cakes were awesome.

As expected a lovely atmosphere and food was good, but ruined but very slow service. Which we were told was due to a large party upstairs ! Our evening could have been so much more enjoyable.

The dining areas are charming, servers are dressed from the Colonial period, and the place is quiet so you can actually hear the conversation at your table. The food is fine to pretty good - nothing stellar or amazing but solid. No one will be offended at the menu. Our srrver was very nice but the kitchen was slow -... More

Went sightseeing around Alexandria with visiting family one Sunday morning a couple weekends ago and found ourselves in front of the tavern so we went in. After a five minute wait we were seated in the original tavern room. The food was great, I had the French toast and loved it. Our server, Aaron, was so nice and answered all... More

Took the family here while on vacation. I had been here years ago for a business trip, and there were character actors, dressed and acting like they were in the time period of the building. It made it a fun place, and you learned a little about the history of the building. The character actors are what made this place... More

We were visiting old friends on our recent visit. If you would like to experience "colonial ambience," I heartily recommend Gadsby's Tavern. Although not an extensive menu, it does offer variety and includes foods that are more traditional. We had had peanut soup many years ago when we dined in Colonial Williamsburg and it was on Gadsby's menu - and... More

Great for a piece of history but the food is not great. Service is okay, but it's cool to say you dined where George Washington ate and had similar menu items, food, etc. The place is pretty cool and interior is historic. So for a one time tourist visit it's probably a great place to dine for one night and... More
