I went here for NYE and it was magnificent! The food was amazing and the wait staff top notch. I plan to go back for lunch or dinner very soon. The NYE menu was a fixed menu but they serve all sorts of things during the rest of the year. It is a bit pricey but worth every penny.

Gadsby's is an Alexandria landmark with taverns at the location dating back to the 1790's. We enjoyed going to Old Town to see the holiday lights and wanted to have the experience of an old-time tavern, so we tried Gadsby's. This is a busy place with good service and excellent food. Reservations are recommended, at least on a weekend. The... More

I ordered the duck. It came with corn pudding and scalloped potatoes. My hubby ordered the prime rib. The portions are huge! Plan to be there at 7 pm. That's when Ben Franklin makes an appearance!

We chose this restaurant after finding it on a list of the most historic restaurants in D.C. The building itself is lovely and truly has a feeling of historical charm. We were seated at an intimate table for two next to a window that looked out over the dimly lit streets of Alexandria. It was the perfect setting for our... More

We stopped in for a quick lunch on a very hot day this past July. What a wonderfully historic spot! The service was great. It was a quiet afternoon. We look forward to returning in the future for a dinner.

Service was great. Food I had was ok, specifically my food choice - which was my fault really for picking it. Unless you are truly devoted to your veggies, the Vegetable Napoleon is not the way to go (and I typically love veggie/vegetarian meals, but this was too much for me). Besides this, the dessert (Tiramisu) was great, the service... More

Had a good meal - the staff are all dressed in period costumes - there was a gentleman who was truly a gem. He was not only dressed for the Colonial Time period, he spoke just like he was from the Colonial Period - really fun, entertaining!

Candlelight, historical setting with good food, pleasant staff and quick efficient service. Many nights (not all so call ahead) they have historical actors meandering the dining rooms. We could not beat the smell of hot mulled apple and rum drinks, Yards (tm) ales, authentic dishes from the times of our Founding Fathers and great desserts. Prime Rib and Yorkshire Pudding....very...
