This place is worth visiting for the historical significance and atmosphere alone but also has pretty good food. Service was also good.

We went to this tavern to have a desert and coffee. The waiter suggested a banana desert and it was excellent!! We will definitely go back!!

We went here since George Washington ate there and it went with our Mount Vernon theme... the atmosphere is cool. The menu isn't huge but they serve classic food options (we had onion soup, chicken pot pie and a crab cake). Food was good, and...More

I stopped here on a business trip to the area. The history of the building with George Washington and Robert E Lee is amazing. It's cool that it is still standing. And eating in the same spot is a great idea. I also loved my...More

If you are looking for the old colonial tavern experience, don't miss Gadsby Tavern. The servers are dressed in period attire, the music is very appropriate, the candle lighting is cool, and the food was way better than we even expected......also fun was the colonial...More

This was a neat historical building. Food was very good. There was a person in character from early 1800s who came around to the tables and was entertaining to talk to

Took the family to Alexandria for the weekend, and as usual, had a debate about where to eat dinner on Saturday night. Based on T/A, I chose Gadsby's. Admittedly, I waited too late to find reservations for eight, and Open Table indicated no availability. A...More

This building was built in the 1700s and looks like it. It is poorly maintained, many of the chairs were wobbly, the tables were scratched and ours was dirty with some kind of sticky gooey stuff. The men's restroom looked like a small bomb had...More

Do they have...a poor decision making skills, a management team who lies about adjusting your bill: yes they do! Is the food good yes. Do they actually honor reservations made on Open Table/Trip advisor: not really.
