We stayed at the Lorien for 5 nights and had breakfast at the Brabo Tasting Room that was attached to the hotel. We generally avoid the hotel restaurants because it tends to feel like you are a captive audience....easy and close by but never great. The breakfasts that we had were prepared very well, super fresh but quite expensive. The... More

This small street-front restaurant is attached to the Lorien Hotel on King Street in Alexandria, and is affiliated with Robert Wiedmaier’s larger Brabo restaurant on the same property. The tasting room has a more casual, diner-like feel inside with an open kitchen and not that many tables. The food is more casual than the main restaurant but is still Belgian... More

AMAZING wine list, our server taught us so much about Chablis and other hidden gems. The chestnut soup is luscious and satisfying. We visited during restaurant week and were simply spell bound by the food. Except the grilled octopus - chewy. But the local fish and the short rib - diners delight! Can't wait to come back!

We were looking for another restaurant and looked in and saw some people eating the mussels. When we could not find the restaurant that was on Trip Advisor (must have closed down), we went back to try it out. It was fantastic!! I got the meat platter appetizer and the mussels. I ate everyone of them. and then we had... More

For a real treat try to mussels or any soup. You will not be disappointed. Also, the best coffee around. I have never had a bad meal here. Not priced for an everyday place, but every once in a while or for a special occasion - absolutely!

We went to the tasting rooms for lunch and for dinner. The salad with salmon was excellent. And the mussels are very tasty--especially good broth for dipping bread! Would be happy to go again.

We enjoyed dining here while staying in the Kimpton. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner all represented in our stay. Oh, and a mid afternoon "snack" the first day of our stay. Terrific staff including the manager ( I did not catch his name ) who offered us advice on apartment hunting ( the reason for our trip) AND complimentary wine with... More

We had read many good reviews of Brabo Tasting Room and were eager to try it for our last meal in Alexandria. But I was disappointed. To start, Hubs had the asparagus soup - he was a little disappointed since it had little flavor. I had a starter salad, which was good, but nothing special. Hubs had the chicken pot... More

The food is great if you are looking for casual fare such as pizza, flat breads, salads, soups, sandwiches. When the weather is nice, the restaurant offers outside seating, too. Haven't tried the pizza, but the 5 onion soup and bar-b-que pork sandwich were excellent.
