the origins of this traditional Russian dish, which recently celebrated its thousandth birthday, can be traced back to ancient times.the blin itself, round & golden, symbolized the sun.
Borscht
borscht is a soup of Ukrainian origin that is popular in many eastern & central European countries. in most of these countries, it is made w/ beetroot as the main ingredient, giving it a deep reddish-purple color. The shop may be tiny, but the selection of interesting foods from Russia is out of this world. You may not understand the label, but the shop keeper is quite helpful, but not pushy.

What a great find! I like to cook nice, hardy foods, and I stumbled upon this place with a friend. They have very specialized items, though not just Russian. I will be back frequently!

If you are looking for some main Russian grocery I'd recommend to stop by at this store. Stuff is very friendly and helpful. Very clean and neat. Has almost everything what average Russian person will look for. The only thing - prices are very high.

They have a good selection including ikra Krasny red caviar, salmon eggs, not cheap but where else will you find these goodies. They deserve to succeed.

Not a restaurant but a small authentic Russian grocery store. There is a deli with meats and cheeses as well as all the favorites. There are several locations in the greater DC area.
