We came here as refugees from an outdoor food festival. The lines at the festival were too long and it was too hot. We found Sunday in Saigon (thank you TA!) and had a very pleasant lunch. The two dishes we ordered were very nice,...and there was much more on the menu that looked interesting. Old Town is off the beaten path for us generally, but we are plotting a return to this restaurant soon. It was surprisingly busy for a Saturday in late August, but may we weren't the only refugees from the park.More

We ordered 5 dishes. The papaya salad was seasoned with vinegar, served with crispy cracker and perfect appetizer to start with. Egg plant with minced shrimp and pork was seasoned black paper which taste so good, pork shoulder stair fry was so good with white...rice, spicy beef noodle was flavorful, delicious broth, and meat was so soft. Vietnamese crepe with shrimp was crispy outside, stair fried shrimp and veggies were inside, we had them wrapping with lettuce. All of them were so delicious and displayed nicely. Staffs of the restaurant were all friendly and checked on us often.More

We had the pho with wagyu and brisket, it was very tasty but most of the brisket was like chewing gum . The service and flavor of the pho were very good and I will definitely give this place another shot .

I ordered Mi Hoanh Thanh yesterday for a friend and while I was on the phone with her actually eating it, she said she could taste a difference in the filling from one bite to the next. Today she told me she got sick from...it. Boo.More

Got taken here by a local who recommended it highly. He knew what he was talking about. Excellent food and service, nice atmosphere, good for social occasions or business discussions. Try the gelato wing that just opened about a month ago -- great way to...put out the fire from the main dish.More

We have been visiting this restaurant since it opened numerous times and it has never disappointed us. It has the best Vietnamese food which can be found in the area. I am visiting Vietnam often and really long for the freshness and authentic taste of...the food and this place is the closest where I can find this at home. The flavors are amazing and I like the modern take on traditional food. The restaurant itself is hip and modern, service is very friendly and attentive, This will not be the cheapest Vietnamese food you can find but some of the best.More

My friend and I went to Sunday in Saigon for dinner because she is a vegan and they have a lot of options for her. I live very close to this location, so I was looking forward to trying it out. However, the service and...some of the food left a bit to be desired. The restaurant is one huge open room, so the noise can get a bit much if there are a lot of people. Also, in the winter there’s a gust of cold air every time someone opens the door. I asked to be seated far away from the door because of that. They have a fairly sizable menu, with a lot of standard Vietnamese food and some dishes that I hadn’t tried before. Because it was my first time here, I tried the egg noodles, a standard dish. It was a huge portion, but there was almost a soup underneath but they never offered or recommended rice (which it desperately needed). The appetizer wraps were just OK, some of them were fried and some were not, which would’ve been nice to know in advance. Service was not great. They ran out of Vietnamese beer, and basically only had one or two beers total. I opted for wine, but that would not be my preference here. Our waiter couldn’t really explain the food to us, so we hesitated from trying stuff we weren’t sure if it had meat/soy/dairy or stuff like that. I don't think I'll be back.More

Ate here for dinner. Appreciated the light-up menu, so I could read the menu. More restaurants should do this. Ordered the Thit Heo Kho Tieu (caramelized pork with black pepper in clay pot). It was good, but the cut of meat was on the fatty...side, which I didn't appreciate as much and which reflects in my overall rating of the restaurant. Prices are in line with what I'd expect to pay in Alexandria. Eden Center is cheaper and/or tastier, though. Pro tip: in the winter, don't sit by the front door, as it gets a bit cold/drafty there.More

Andy was our server and on a buffet selection helped choose an amazing taste experience. Food on small plates kept coming, each better than the previous selection until we had to stop only because we were totally satisfied.

Everything was finest asian food, but with a special taste and fresh herbs in every dish....And it was cheap as well, with one shared appetizer, 4 mains and two beer we launched at only $90.More

Heartbreaking. That’s all I can say. I dined at this upscale Vietnamese restaurant in Alexandria shortly after it opened to rave reviews. The place was packed, the food was great, the cocktails were perfect and it was a very satisfying experience (I see now that...I never reviewed it back then… I must’ve been crazy busy, which was a mistake because it deserved a great review). So now it’s been open for a while and tonight I had a strongly negative experience. It began on the reservation site. I’m here for business. I’m alone. When I tried to make a reservation online and changed the default guest count from 2 to 1 all of the available times disappeared. I had to go back to a two person request to be able to secure a reservation. I should have been a little worried. Because every single time-slot increments was available. I was seated promptly by courteous staff. The place was not full. It should have been. It’s Friday night in Alexandria. I asked for a seat with a banquette (my preference). The table I was given was where two cushions met and they were 6 inches apart at exactly where I was set (my place setting) to sit. I was seated at a double two-top, so I shifted everything over to the next table. Or at least I tried to. The placemat was stuck to the table. I had to peel it off. It resisted. Actually my shirt sleeves stuck to the table. Everything was tacky/sticky on the wooden table. Next realization... the table wobbled a full couple inches. I called the manager over and asked, after telling him I don’t mean to be a pain in the neck, for a different table. He happily switched me. The new table? Sticky... but happily no wobble! I ordered a cocktail. I waited. I waited. I waited. I was then asked if I wanted to order. I ordered three courses. No cocktail yet. My first course arrived. Halfway through it the cocktail arrived. My father taught me that a cocktail is a cocktail… not a beverage. First course: Hoanh Thanh Sate. Heavily fried. Very oily to the touch. Before I was finished the first course... the second course arrived. Nem Ran Hai Phong. Tasty, spicy, very enjoyable. Before I was finished the first and second course the main course arrived. Cua Lot Rang Me. I told the waiter I felt like I was being pushed. I felt like I was being asked to run a race. He mumbled an apology and said that no one told him that I wanted to eat slowly. Really? The main course, which was market price ($32) softshell crabs, was overcooked and mushy. I didn’t finish it. I just wanted to get out of there. And that’s what I did. One more comment about the restaurant. I noticed that the small area they have for waiting or sipping a cocktail (not at the bar but a different area) was edged with a variety of large plants. One of the planters contained a completely dead plant and another had recently had a plant removed. There were scummy rags at the bottom of some of the planters to catch water. Not particularly appetizing (see photo). They also had a floor drain and water line coming out of the floor under a small gaming table (see photo). All of this is evidence of compromise and doesn’t speak to the high standards the restaurant originally had. Note to owners: you have a beautiful place in a beautiful location. Shake it off and make it what it was. BTW: the final blow? I asked if they validated parking tickets. They kindly gave me a ticket with the instructions to insert my parking ticket first and then the ticket they gave me second. I did so leaving the garage. The gate machine could not read their ticket. I tried several times. Parking cost me $13. An appropriate number. It was an unlucky night for dining out. These are first-world problems. I get that. Still it was upsetting to see how far this restaurant has fallen.More

Anytime someone asks me to try a new Vietnamese place and it is not in Eden Center I shudder and cringe on the inside. A-L-O-T. Particularly even more and resist going if it is out of the way. Imagine my surprise when my brother and...sister both insisted we pop into this place for lunch when I was visiting them. On this nice wintery day, we ordered: *Nem Nuong - This felt like the star of the show. Definitely have never had it made this way. I loved the crunchy crispy rice thrown inside with the meat, noodles & veggies; it gave the roll a nice crunch to every bite. *Cha Gio Ga - Served, nice, hot, and crispy. I have nothing else to say other than it was tasty. *Bang Bao Ba Roi - Nice stacked hearty pork belly sandwich that was reminiscent of peking duck (buns), or rather, their take on it. *Pho with Waygu - Interesting broth, served hot, and hearty portioned. I feel like this pho fell short just a bit, as it is a Viet staple and there was nothing special about their pho or the meat. *(Brother and sister also ordered a fried rice and clay pot fish dish, which I did not try) Big open space restaurant with Asian, modern decor. There is a little lounge-ish area off the corner. They have one of those new vino dispensers that is proudly displayed in between the lounge and receptionist desk. Bathrooms were clean (you walk past the kitchen and bar area before finding it). They will validate parking if you parked in the adjacent parking structure. Overall, solid "neuvo" Vietnamese food and def worth the visit if you are in Old Town Alexandria!More

It was a long time coming but a 2 lb. fried rockfish was well worth the wait. Maybe a little pricy at $45, but certainly delicious. The accommodations were maybe a little less desirable but nevertheless comfortable. The service was OK - no complaints. this...restaurant is maybe overpriced given the atmosphere and service but the redeeming factor is the good food.More
