If you don't love brussel sprouts, you will after having them Shallow Shaft Style!! Amazing deep fried brussel sprouts with balsamic & bacon... YUMMY !! Had the steak & crab -- absolutely delicious!! One of the best restaurants I have ever been to! Bit pricey, but worth it!

We took a spring run up the hill to the Shallow Shaft and were rewarded with a fabulous dinner with great views. Note: We went up on April 9, which was the week before they closed until summer season. As with many of the ski-resort restaurants, you have to make sure that they are open in spring and fall. Due... I've eaten at the shallow shaft several times over the years and have always found the food to be good despite the decor that's stunningly old fashioned. yes, there are antiques that reflect the mining theme but it feels as if it was built and decorated in the 70's and that's the way they like it, if you know what... If your looking for a romantic dinner away in the mountains of beautiful Utah you have to try Shallow Shaft. I highly recommend making a reservation to get seated in the front room, the views are phenomenal, especially around sunset. It does get a little toasty around sunset, even during the winter months if your seated near the window. The... More

Shallow Shaft is a small casual restaurant with excellent food. They have a nice wine list also. The food is moderate-expensive, but worth it. This is a great alternative to some of the other restaurants in the Snowbird-Alta area. I went twice in my recent visit to Snowbird, and would definitely return.

This is an intimate gourmet restaurant set in an abandoned mine shaft that we enjoy every trip to Snowbird. It is just a quick ride, maybe 5 mins, from the Lodge Resort at Snowbird. Food and service are EXCELLENT, a little pricey.

We have been coming to Little Cottonwood Canyon for over 20 years to ski and we always try to get to Shallow Shaft. We usually stay at Snowbird so getting to Shallow Shaft is somewhat of a hassle but the food is dramatically better than anything at Snowbird. I had elk this time - very nice . Wine list is... More

We were a group of 6 visiting Alta for the first time and wanted a suitable place for a family meal on Christmas Eve. The booking was easily done on the internet in advance and we were not disappointed. The food is superb, the service excellent and the wine list is amazing. If you are visiting Alta and enjoy a...
