Outstanding true Indian and Nepalese food. Very attentive and knowledgeable wait staff. Hands down the best Indian restaurant in town

Prachet (sp?) was our server, and she was very knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. I will be going back!!!
Now that dine-in is open, we went for dine-in lunch and were very impressed. Food was quite tasty. Overall place looks great.
We've ordered takeout 3 or 4 times since I first visited (and gave 2 stars). The food is indeed quite good. However, you are getting a lot of oily gravy on many of the dishes, which means you're getting less meat and vegetables. The dishes...are a bit pricy, but that's Austin. The most annoying thing is online ordering. For one thing, you may have problems with the display when ordering from your phone. If so, you'll see what I mean. If not, don't worry about it. But last evening, I ordered 3 dishes, one of which was goat curry. I was told the order would be ready in 30 min. My wife got there on time, and had to wait an additional 30 minutes for the order. So... 1 hour to get a take out order? The restaurant was not busy at all. The staff told her, "Sorry, this goat dish takes a long time to prepare." Couldn't resist the thought: maybe they are having a hard time catching the goat. Seriously though, maybe put a comment on the take-out menu that some dishes may take longer to prepare. If this seems like a petty complaint, imagine standing around in the front of the restaurant for 30 minutes AFTER being told your order would be ready. And being told, "Sorry, we're still cooking it." It's annoying. BTW, I'm all for leaving a tip for take-out during COVID, since the pandemic has hurt restaurant workers. But next time, we'll just wait until we get our order to leave a tip.More
We just had a wonderful takeout dinner from Saffron. Every dish was exceptional. We loved the chicken with spinach and mint, the korma, and the eggplant in particular. Highly recommend it!
Dropped in for dinner with friends after too long a gap. They have a new menu - mostly the same but with a few new dishes to explore, but after a long absence we elected to stick with old favorites. While we have long been...fans of this restaurant we felt the food last night was particularly fresh and appealing - pushing 5 stars. Very, very good. The cauliflower appetizer remains superb and the Brusseks sprouts are very good. The eggplant entree was very good and three Lamb Passander was the star of the night. The accompzntpying rice was about as good as rice gets. The garlic naan is something we consider mandatory. A great meal!More
Fine Indian fusion food. Fast service and the food was well prepared and presented. Staff are super responsive and will cater to customers with a smile.
Tack on a name like "Saffron", and...how can you go wrong? My first time sampling their food (as take-out), which included a protein dish with saffron, a vegetable dish, and garlic naan. The tItles of the dishes vary between the on-line menu and the printed...menu, but I'll refer to the on-line menu for now. To start with, the naan was disappointing. Limp and mushy. The "Saffron Scallops"...listed as an appetizer at $9 on the Online menu, but $12 on the printed menu, NOT under appetizers, were also a disappointment. Four scallops (not "Sea" nor "bay" but somewhere in between, at barely an inch in diameter, were competently prepared but rather uninspired for a dish entitled "saffron" anything. I have next-to-nothing experience cooking with saffron, and probably could have done better. The best dish was the vegetable tandoori. It was quite good, but left me wanting more. Online, it's listed as Amritsari Seekhs. Several things on the menu look good, so I'll give them one more chance, and order 3 different dishes.More
Everyone is entitled to the odd 'off day' and maybe yesterday (3/17/19) was Saffrons on Far West. 2 of the 3 dishes we ordered were full of bones and not as tasty as we remember. Maybe their 'good' chief has been diverted to their new...location. The girl on the front desk seemed new and a bit untrained in the operation of their payment system too. I'm hoping this isn't an all too common story of ignoring the original location while opening a new one.More
We stopped in for dinner tonight and while the place isn't much to look at (think hole in wall- Strip mall), the food was pretty good. The place was quite crowded and even with a reservation we almost ended up seated with another party, We...requested a different table and they accommodated us. We ordered within a few minutes and the food arrived about 20 minutes later. We had Tandoori Chicken, Saag Paneer, Lamb Sekuwa, and Garli Naan. All three mains and the Naan were quite good' We'll try the lunch buffet soon,More
Stumbled on Saffron.... No regrets. Food was delicious and no outrageous price for it. Had a great time, staff is very friendly and accommodating. Wait for food was a bit longer then I would have liked to wait but it was a holiday so I...kept that in mind with how busy it was. Over all if you like Indian food please give this place a try. I don't think you will regret it!More
I love Indian food, and I noticed the other day that Saffron, the excellent Far West Boulevard restaurant, apparently took over the spot in Westlake formerly occupied by Bombay Bistro. It has been open only a few days, I gather, since there were sheets of...paper pasted on the windows, announcing the opening. I decided to order the basic chicken tikki masala. If they can do that well, I thought, then it'll be a good local addition to the neighborhood. Ugh. The chicken was apparently from the tandoor -- you know, the dry, hard kind of chicken that has been cooked too long, with the sauce spread over it. I was expecting tender chicken pieces that had been slow-cooked in the sauce, with lots of juiciness. Maybe the kitchen isn't fully up and running, but serving that dish was a big mistake. I'm not sure I will return. The staff, however, was very friendly and attentive. Not sure what's happening at the new Westlake location.More
Came in for dinner. Ordered Rosemary/Cheese Naan, Kalonji Paneer Tika(cheese and veggies grilled), Lamb Pasanda (cashew and pistachio sauce) and Bhindi Masala (fried okra). Everything was good to very good. Good service. Not fast but totally acceptable food delivery. Recommended.
Food was amazing! We love Indian food and eaten Indian all over the world. This place is up there in my top 5 for sure. Restaurant ambiance is not much to look at but the food makes up for it. Chicken Tandoori was delicious. My...wife had the Aloo Gobi and seriously impressed! Brussel sprouts were out of this world! You can also bring your own wine and they don’t charge a cork fee! Great place for Indian food!!More
We went here for dinner. The choice for vegetarians was reasonable. The served portions were more than adequate. Taste and ambiance were good, but the service was very slow. However the staff were courteous.
