The service was very friendly and fast for a Saturday morning. The food was good and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was great and suited for a diner theme.

Classic little diner with really good food. The ambiance is diner perfect. The service is neighbor friendly. Like That! And the menu has lots of tempting choices. This place is classic perfect! And special ‘props’ shout out to the Huevos Rancheros. Amazing!

Austin Diner is a classic diner. It has the classic diner look and feel. The furnishings appear period. The service is welcoming, efficient and friendly. The menu is broad and includes expansive breakfast options. The food was excellent. I will go back.

Looking for a new place and TA sent me this suggestion. It's at the corner of a strip mall, so I missed it my first pass and it doesn't stick out. But that's the only negative to an otherwise enjoyable experience and meal. I got...the Longhorn Skillet which has hash browns (real grated hash browns, not chunky potatoes like some places) with assorted other ingredients including that well-loved side dish, bacon. It comes with eggs on top and over the entire mess a helping of sausage gravy. Absolutely great. Next time I'm going with one of the other skillets since i had to choose from one of three tempting sounding "skillets". My waitress was very good. I only wish I hadn't waited so long to venture west of Lamar Blvd.More

I had a good omlet, with grits and bacon. Very satisfying breakfast, and available all day. I like the old Austin decor.

I went for lunch with my son today. I didn’t think I was hungry but ordered the hot roast beef sandwich. It was so good I ate the whole thing. It came with some lovely mashed potatoes and the whole thing was drenched in very...good gravy. I haven’t tired anything else but they seemed to have a great variety of diner food including an extensive breakfast menu and a lot of Mexican dishes. I would not be afraid to try anything on their menu- that sandwich was YUM!!More

Visited family in Austin. They took us to the Austin diner for breakfast. There were six of us and each person ordered something different. The service was excellent. The choices range from specialties like banana and pecan pancakes to standard eggs over easy, al la...carte items and everything in between. We will be back.More

My husband and I tried this diner while visiting Austin. I ordered the country fried steak and my husband had the meatloaf. The diner was cute with vintage cookware and appliances in the decor. But, lack of attention to repairs and their food led to...a disappointing visit. My steak was undercooked and the sides were mediocre. You may want to try another spot for southern cooking.More

When I want a full breakfast, this is the place. They do it right: plenty of options, an early bird menu, plenty of coffee, and friendly service. Plenty of parking. Be aware that on weekends it will be crowded early on. They close at 4...and their lunches aren't bad, either.More

Me and my friends went here because we were in the area and didnt want to wait in line at one of the overcrowded trendy Austin spots located EVERYWHERE around us. I had the Chicken fried chicken with cream gravy, mashed potatoes and black eyed...peas. It was just like I like it: thin, lightly battered and huge portion. They had the mexican skillet with eggs, and sauce and cheese and it was huge and delicious. This place was so refreshing because it is what it is. It doesnt "Try to be cool" like so many Austin establishments. I am so embarrassed for most Austin businesses who try to be cool and its just cringeworthy. This place was like a retirement home inside; we were the youngest patrons by far. They have daily specials and their cornbread is to die for. There was a random fork on the floor and basically two waitresses running the whole place but we had fast and efficient service. It was $9.00 for my meal and I thought that was more than fair. They also have a senior special for $7.99 every single day. Go here if youre not trying to impress anyone, not wanting to people-watch, or want to eat a good home-cooked meal alone.More
