The Iron Works is a Texas barbecue restaurant overlooking Waller Creek. Prior to 1978, it was an operating iron works that did custom iron decorative fixtures for the Texas Capitol building and others. The barbeque is very delicious, with brisket and sausage being my favorite. The pork ribs are also wonderful. Their sides are tasty as well. It's not fancy... More

Visiting from Boston, this was a great find. Authentic, original, down- to- earth. A wide variety of local beer in barrels of ice and very good food made this a place to remember. Food was good. Order, wait for it (very quick) pay, and grab a table. No frills but no lies either.

I've eaten and made a lot, I mean a LOT of BBQ of all types in my lifetime. Iron Works is easily some of the best beef brisket, beef ribs, and sausage I've had anywhere.

Cool little hidden gem on the corner of Red River St. Authentic bbq, with just the right sauces and spices. BBQ plates are a must!

Beef BBQ was so tender it breaks apart before you can take a bite. Don't be disappoint ed get the sides with cream corn and coleslaw. Very cool atmosphere and old school look.

Good food! Wanted bbq something fierce, this was close to our hotel so we gave it a shot, so glad we did! Friendly, helpful staff. Easy to navigate, options to sit inside or outside. Reasonable price for the amount of food you get.

The beef ribs are the star of the show and the brisket was also very good. Unfortunately, they don't offer any combo meals that would allow more than one meat.

Small dive but really good barbecue! Have been back twice when we visit our son at UT. Consistently good...I always get the pulled pork and my husband and son really like the brisket.

I ate here and had just what I wanted, barbeque beef, some great sides, and a beer. Very simple and straight to the point!

We were looking for a lunch spot in Austin for BBQ. We tried a popular food truck with a 2 hour wait and left the line. Heading to Iron Works since we knew this place. It might not be the best or hippest BBQ in town but it is very good and you can always get in quickly. The style... More
