Doesn't look much from the outside but serves wonderful smoke- food. Enormous portions. Staff friendly and helpful and the place is spotless. Quirky but definitely worth a visit

We arrived around 11:30 and found parking right in the lot. Parking is limited. The smoky smell as soon as you open the door is wonderful and adds to the appetite. I ordered the brisket plate. Very flavorful and I would not hesitate to order it again. My husband ordered the ribs plate. Delicious!!!! I enjoyed the pinto bean side,... More

Great sausage, tender brisket, superb rib! The food defines the state-of-art of bbq. The bbq sauce is very tasty. If visiting the first time, I recommend the sampler. A large variety of Texan beers.

Ate here for lunch on a solo trip to Austin. It has been 25+ years since I was last here. Not much has changed except the price of beef. My plate was a few slices of brisket off the bark side and one from interior, green beans and frijoles. Oh! And the Texas pickles... Jalapeños to you Yankees! The brisket... More

This place seems like it has been there for a long time. The brisket was absolutely amazing. Mac and cheese and creamed corn yummy. Definitely will go back if in Austin. Typical bbq with paper towels on table and paper plates. Only downside is that my clothes smell like bbq smoke after I left.

Oh, I'm sure some will disagree, but for my money, Iron Works is a "gotta do" when you're in Austin. It's made far easier by the fact it's just around the corner from the Convention Center. The food is superb...from the brisket to the pulled pork to the sausage, all of which are included on the sampler plate. Now, to... More

I really enjoyed Iron Works. It's a very casual bbq restaurant. I had the ribs and brisket. Both had a decent smokiness. Brisket was fantastic. Ribs were tasty but could have been a tad more tender. Good sauces on the tables to accompany meat. Order by the pound as much or as little as you want except for the ribs... More

Best brisket I have ever ate. There sides where ok. The pulled pork and sausage where great. The ribs where very tasty just a little bit tough. The prices where very reasonable/ really cheap.

Went out for BBQ with Austin-based family. Very accessible in downtown Austin, super casual, extensive selection of meats. Chose a two-meat (beef ribs and brisket) with sweet cream corn and mac & cheeses sides (with a slice of white bread, of course). Lotta food there, went well with a Shiner Bock. As a first timer, I depended on the lady... More

There are many bars and grills but not a lot of restaurants in the 6th Avenue Area of downtown Austin. Iron Works is an authentic barbecue option, with extensive choices, fair prices, fast service, appropriate decor and delicious food!
