Lets face it - if you are going to Austin for any reason, there are MUST GO PLACES to eat Barbeque - this little gem is the BEST one - we believe......on the corner behind the convention center and in a brick building all by itself - its hard to miss.....you order your food in a cafe style line (goes... We picked up a pound of beef ribs and a sausage sandwich for the road.... the beef ribs were cool! The sausage wasn't that good. Reviews made it out to be better than it really was. Will try it again.

Wait in line, tell them if you are going or staying and order. After you get it head to the right and pick out dessert and pay. There is an option for salad bar and refills on your fountain drinks. I had the chop beef plate with green beans and corn on the cob with banana pudding. Pretty good! Service... More

We got the brisket and it was tender and flavorful. The sides were nothing special, but it was about the meat so who cares. The atmosphere was fun and we got in and out before a crowd of tourists showed up.

When we first walked up to the place I was surprised. It was not a place I would stop at without good reviews! It smells so good when you walk in! It took us a minute to take it all in and figure out how it worked You go up to the window and order your food, then go past... More

You walk in the door and right away your expectations for good food go through the roof. The old building just looks and smells like Texas BBQ was designed for this place. We strolled in on a hot summer evening and walked up to the order window. We were so hungry we didn't think about how warm it was in... More

I have been to this location several times, and it's at 100 Red River in Austin, TX, not 199 Red River. The food is always good. I love the pork ribs, which is what I get most of the time. I love, love, love, that darn creamed corn. I can't get enough of it. This place also has a small... More

Great BBQ. Friends and I enjoyed a little bit of everything. I had the pork ribs and definitely tasty - quintessential Texas BBQ - smoky bark with juicy meat. Another friend enjoyed the smoked turkey and couldn't rave more! All entrees were thoroughly enjoyed including the limited salad bar.

I love BBQ and loved visiting Texas for the fact that I could always get BBQ. We were staying downtown and getting around was somewhat of an issue. Iron Works does offer free parking but it is a small area and sometimes is a full. The restaurant is a good old stand by but may not get my vote on... More
