Disappointed in variety and service slow. Parking a disaster but very festive environment but they really know how to prepare what they do serve

Finally remembered to make reservations for this place, might not have needed them. We got here 45 minutes early and they seated us right off! We started with cocktails, and then appetizers. My drink was tasty and stiff. My girl said hers was nice as well. For appetizers we ordered the Torre De Botanas. Lots of tasty tidbits! For entrees... More

I have been living in Austin off and on for years. Fonda San Miguel has been touted over and over again as the best mexican restaurant in town. They have an "attitude', it is well known and discussed in foodie discussions. I have traveled all over this great wold of ours many times over and have dined at some of... More

We had a long travel day full of one almost comical let down after another. Things all turned around when we got to Fonda San Miguel. The moment you walk in the doors there is so much to see and you know you’ve turned your night around. The drinks were excellent and the food, I don’t even know that there... More

This restaurant has been around since 1975. Any restaurant that is around that long has been doing something right. This restaurant prepares and serves food that is from recipes from interior Mexico. The food and service are not typical of regular Mexican food places. This is a fine dining experience. For food choices, try chile rellano picadillo. My favorite. Thirsty?... More

I've been in Mexico and la Fonda San Miguel reminds me to the beautiful restaurants in Mexico. The tacos al pastor are so yummy, so tasty, you can't stop eating them! I STRONGLY recommend! My entree chile relleno was not memorable, but it was good.

When you first pull into the parking lot, you feel like you have arrived at an exotic place. This is one of the more expensive places I have eaten in Austin but it is quite good. it was wonderful. The Salsa & Chips were great. For an Appetizer we had the ANGELS ON HORSEBACK* Three grilled shrimp with white cheese,... More

We've lived close to Austin for 20 years and never heard of this place. It's a great place with delicious food. The chips and salsa would be their weakest area. The ceviche las brisas was excellent as was the rest of the food that we ordered. The service was superb and we can't wait to go back.

While parking might be limited, your dining experience will not. I think this restaurant has been around for 40 years and has always been a high-quality, moderately-priced restaurant. My recommendation on dishes is to try something that sounds good. If you don't understand the description, ask your waiter for more information. This is not the "burn your taste buds out"... More

Arrived at 7:00 on a Thursday evening and the dining room was packed. Took a spot in the bar, which has a very interesting circus theme. Staff was very attentive but not overly solicitous. I had the tamales, which were good, but purposely went lite so I could sample the crepes. The caramel is made with goat milk, which I... More
