Met friends at the bar at Fonda San Miguel. While it can get crowded later, it isn't too busy if you get there around 5 PM. The margaritas are among the best in Austin and the appetizers are fantastic.

A beautiful setting, a beautiful restaurant & very good authentic & haute Mexican cuisine. The queso rajas was very good. My husband pork stuffed poblano with a slightly sweet cinnamon infused sauce was very good, my Ensalada Espinaca was all right , though nothing special. The cilantro dressing for it was good. The Flan de Almendra is to die for!... More

Wife and I had dinner in the bar area. Love the bar here....nice, quiet atmosphere, cozy and the drinks are very good. I had the duck enchiladas with poblano cream and they were unique and very flavorful. Really tasty. Wife had the chicken mole enchiladas and loved them. Mole was truly authentic with the right taste/hint of chocolate. The waiter... More

After hearing lots of good comments about brunch at Fonda San Miguel we finally got there . Over all a good experience but we have been much more imoressed at dinner. Brunch often compromises food quality as hot dishes for they are often held too long and or overcooked and that was true on this visit and contributed to an... More

Good South of the Border menu but a bit loud and pricey. I had the special Cameroon's de Horna and chocolate cream cake. The Dragon Will Return ..

Disappointed in variety and service slow. Parking a disaster but very festive environment but they really know how to prepare what they do serve

Finally remembered to make reservations for this place, might not have needed them. We got here 45 minutes early and they seated us right off! We started with cocktails, and then appetizers. My drink was tasty and stiff. My girl said hers was nice as well. For appetizers we ordered the Torre De Botanas. Lots of tasty tidbits! For entrees... More

I have been living in Austin off and on for years. Fonda San Miguel has been touted over and over again as the best mexican restaurant in town. They have an "attitude', it is well known and discussed in foodie discussions. I have traveled all over this great wold of ours many times over and have dined at some of... More

We had a long travel day full of one almost comical let down after another. Things all turned around when we got to Fonda San Miguel. The moment you walk in the doors there is so much to see and you know you’ve turned your night around. The drinks were excellent and the food, I don’t even know that there... More

This restaurant has been around since 1975. Any restaurant that is around that long has been doing something right. This restaurant prepares and serves food that is from recipes from interior Mexico. The food and service are not typical of regular Mexican food places. This is a fine dining experience. For food choices, try chile rellano picadillo. My favorite. Thirsty?... More
