We recently stopped by Bartlett's on a Saturday afternoon. Our first visit after the COVID scam began. Bartlett's still earns it seat at the front of the class. After a couple of outstanding cocktails (Bombay Saphire and Bartlett Pear Martini), we ventured into the current...wine list, which, while not extensive, has a nice selection of varietals from many vineyards. We stuck with the "by the glass" section of the wine list and selected a Cade sauvignon blanc and the Stags Leap Investor (a red blend). Both wines were spectacular, and recommended if you stop by. Our food selections hit the mark, beginning with the grilled artichoke hearts, an old staple at Bartlett's and still very good. We inquired about crab cakes, and while not on the menu, they were available. A conversation with the waiter revealed the crab cakes are a frequent special, alternating with lobster tails. Bartlett's crab cakes are easily in the top 2 or 3 in ATX. (Get the sauce on the side). The cost is pretty crazy, but, heck, they're darn good! The club salad and fresh fish of the day followed, both were outstanding. We also selected an extra side dish, Thai roasted brussel sprouts with crushed peanuts ... sublime! The gastro adventure ended with Barlett's key lime pie, which was amazing. Service was great, attentive but not overbearing, thank you Andrew. It was an incredible meal, start to finish. If your in the neighborhood, give Bartlett's a try, you will be thrilled you did.More

The drinks are really good here. I had the petite filet mignon, wasn’t that impressed. Their spinach dip was a great starter I thoroughly enjoyed that. The food was pretty average, it didn’t quite wow us.

Early Dinner on 4th of June 2020 for two. First the menu prices shown here are not accurate. Bartlett's has raised prices by 20-25% since this page put together. Wife had the pork chop. -- ONE average sized, but thick pork chop. came with nothing...more than somewhat dry mashed potatoes; no salad, no soup, not even an under cooked veggie! I took one look at menu prices and decided against having drink or appetizer and ordered the BBQ bacon burger for $18. It came with some "shoestring french fries" that reminded me of the shoestring fries you get in 75¢ potato chip type bag at 7/11. No way I was going to pay $35 for a piece of salmon that I can get most places for $15-$22!! On the positive side the porkchop was very tasty, tender and properly cooked, my burger was juicy and not over cooked with above average taste. Service was good. Avoid this place unless you have just won the lottery and are not very hungry.More

The ambiance of this place is incredible, not to mention the excellent food and service. To me, this is the best food in Austin.

Surprised I have not written a review about one of my experiences at Bartlett’s. I took my wife here to have lunch and were seated quickly where we arrived just after they opened for the day. This restaurant is high end and suggest wearing your...business casual attire. The place is also kept dark with some ambient lighting, and the dark wood overtones do not help either. Luckily we were seated next to a window so could read the menu. But it’s all about the intimate setting atmosphere as a place to take your date whether it’s your wife, girlfriend or mistress to and where the old Austin mobsters used to hang out back when the place was called Houston’s. :) There is a very nice bar to enjoy a fine drink. In the past I remember reading this was one of the best bar scenes in Austin. We did not have reservations and really not needed for lunch but would do so for dinner. This restaurant does not do brunch so get your mimosa and avocado toast somewhere else. The menu is loaded with rich tasting delights and started off with a glass of Zenato. I ended up selecting the Idaho Rainbow Trout. Service here is excellent and attentive to our needs. When our food arrived it looked devouring and smelled good. My trout was the best tasting fish I have had in a very long time. It had so much flavor to it and could sing song about it. It came with wilted spinach which also was a delight. My wife had the Barbecue Pork Ribs and they were delicious too. It was definitely worth the price fir coming here. The food here is first-rate and will recommended it for visitors from out of town.More

It was worthy visiting them... one of the best prime rib I’ve ever had. Service is fast and kind... unfortunately their kitchen messed up with my soup, then I skipped it. Nevertheless the prime rib paid off all the waiting (not too much) and it...was worthy the visit. Good beer on tap, and they offered me the dessert (vanilla ice cream). Need to give them a second try. The place is a bit noisy, but ambience, service and furniture is pleasant.More

Four of us visited for the first time on a Saturday night in October, and it was just what we were looking for in a steakhouse. Two of us were visiting TX for the first time in a long time, and we had a hankerin’...for some good Texas beef. We weren’t disappointed, and in fact, all four us opted for the Prime Rib, and we all loved every bite! Decor is appropriately dark with lots of booths and can accommodate a lot of diners. Menu was very traditional. Can’t say enough how good it was!More

Great atmosphere! Feels like in an English country side restaurant with great wooden beams and soft lights yet you see the fire in their busy kitchen in the back. Great service for such a busy place. Limited menu items but good quality. Tried the mushroom...pate which is excellent!! Their veggie burger is very good and of course the meat and fish dishes are great. Pricey place but worth the visit.More

I am always happy when Austin friends suggest meeting for dinner here. A wide range of choices, all of which can be counted on. One of the group wants a hamburger; another, a good steak; a third, fish. Barlett’s serves quality food in many categories....Nice bar and wine selection also. Their dependably good food draws a crowd, so always make a reservation.More
