Normally we are home for Thanksgiving, but my daughter was getting married during Thanksgiving weekend and we needed a great place for dinner. Threadgill's was a great alternative. The food was fantastic. Turkey was very moist and the gravy was great. Candied yams and the broccoli rice casserole were perfect sides. The pie encore of chocolate icebox at the restaurant... More

There's 2 Threadgills, one north and one south. I generally go the the one south. It's spacious inside and room for lots of diners so sometimes it gets a little loud. There are booths as well as tables. The wait staff are friendly if a little rushed, depending on what time you go. It's open every day of the year... More

I went to Threadgill's after finishing up a work conference at the Austin Convention Center. I originally went to just check out the place and buy a tshirt, but once I smelled dinner I had to try it out. I got ham, mashed potatoes and corn and it tasted like home. I'd highly recommend this restaurant.

If you like comfort food and the feel of being in a cozy location this might be the restaurant for you. Our group had a hamburger, chicken fried steak and chicken dumplings. The hamburger was above average - a ton of fries with it. The chicken fried steak was a bit above average. The chicken dumplings were very good -... More

Most of us had the "world famous chicken fried steak". We were all underwhelmed. It was bland. The batter got mushy. The food was not hot when we got it. The chicken fried chicken was good. The burgers were good. If I go back, I wouldn't order the chicken fried steak.

Met up at Threadgill's before the UT/Iowa game for drinks and lunch and we had a BLAST!!! Amazing drinks, fantastic service, great food, easy parking, and the best people in all of Austin. Everyone ordered something different and every single order came out perfectly accurate. Glasses were never empty and the laughing and fun times never stopped. We went back... More

I took the most simple burger in the menu and it was so good. Beer and service was ok the restaurant looks reasonably clean but the restrooms MUST be renovated.

This is a fun place to go if you're in the downtown area. I've eaten there a few times before going on the Congress Street bat cruise, which is based just across the street. Threadgill's serves good burgers, chicken fried steak and other stick-to-your-ribs dishes, as well as some lighter fare. I have also attended a Sunday morning gospel brunch... More

Threadgill's is definitely an Austin tradition, and the World Headquarters oozes local music history. Definitely a destination to take out-of-town visitors. That said... at this point, I think it's just overrated. The menu has always been limited, and I'm not aware of any changes recently. Nothing wrong with the food, and there's definitely something to be said for knowing you'll... More

Threadgill's is a popular restaurant (sometimes with live entertainment) located quite close to the Hyatt Regency Austin, where we stayed Met a friend for lunch one day and for brunch on another. The brunch offers made to order omelets as well as a decent buffet and order from the menu items. Lunch also offered a wide selection of menu choices.... More
