The food at Threadgill's is like home made heaven. Have eaten several different menu items over the last 2 years. I recommend the Chicken, all of it. Their Mac and cheese is evil. I've never had anything from them that wasn't good! Forget about your diet. :)

Really enjoyed our lunch here. Lots of room. Good service. Good food and reasonable prices. Would definitely go again.

I really like this place. Good "home food", but not outstanding. The review stating "experience over cruise" is accurate, but that's ok. The food is good enough and the setting and usually the service makes for a very pleasant experience. I go out of my way to go when I can. I love the rolls.

I've always enjoyed the Americana and Texacana of the old original Threadgills on North Lamar, when it retained a lot more of a Country Store & old Service Station feel. I grew up honky-tonking as much as a kid could with older relatives -- in such places as that, Broken Spoke and others places around Medina Lake and Bandera. Unfortunately,... More

If an old-fashioned lunch of meatloaf with sides of fried okra and mashed sweet potatoes, yeast rolls and corn bread with real butter, and iced tea served in a rambling and rustic diner crowded with an assorted cast of blue-collar workers and aging liberal Austinites from the 1970s sounds good to you, then don't miss this place!!

Great place to visit and see a lot of the musical history. Not an ideal place if you're gluten free, dairy free and like fresh and healthy choices. Great music! Not my personal choice for cuisine but loved the history and the service was warm and inviting.

The chicken fried steak cost $15. That was the first insult. It was the worst chicken fried steak I've ever had. An embarrassing piece of gristly meat covered by breading.

Went with work friends for lunch. Have been on the road so the Thursday special was Chicken and dumplings. Would recommend it. Chuck full of stewed chicken meat and would give you a second bowl. Did not need a second bowl. All of that and a side salad for $9.99. Wish I had more time to study the pictures on... More

On a business trip to Austin this restaurant was recommended to our group. Coming from the Midwest this was a great place to try things a new way. I really enjoyed the meatloaf! Chicken fried chicken was also delicious. Staff was very friendly and food was served quickly. Great atmosphere as well!

I was delighted to share this Austin tradition with my colleagues. The pickiest among us found something to satisfy. I enjoyed the generously portioned and delicious Mexican martini and the pecan-crusted chicken along with the sides that never disappoint.
