A group of us ate here during a long weekend in Austin. The tasting menu was to die for and every course continued to please. Frankly, it was one of the best dining experiences I have had; I wish it were in Chicago.

Lovely atmosphere. Excellent food. Be prepared, it is 'one of those places'... Beautiful presentation, excellent food, very small portions. Not an everyday sort of restaurant for everyday kind of people, but a delicious night out for a special occasion.

Northern Burnet Road is changing fast! Valet parking was most welcome in this small strip mall. The restaurant's trendy new location is 5 months old, and we sat in the sun outdoors, since Swine Time is only in the bar or patio. It was before 5:30. The sunny patio is pretty, with plants partly masking the parking lot, and the... More

This was our first trip to the new location - OMG what a traffic nightmare! A small, overfilled parking lot for three restaurants on a very busy street. Even with valet parking it was a mess. Once inside, we loved the environment and the noise level were very comfortable. We were four and ordered 10 dishes - the shiitake mushroom... More

Upon arrival, suspicious that this was a chic food emporium. Small bites. Waiter suggested a 10 course meal, no chance. After six of us each ordered three selections, learned how wrong I can be. Each dish better than the last, my favorite, the shiitake mushroom pasta which literally exploded with flavor. A range from grouper, to steak, to crab, to... More

I have long wanted to try Barley Swine and have heard good things aobut it. The location is great, and I really enjoyed the drinks at happy hour. I found the food good but a little pretentious. It is gourmet styled "American," maybe slightly Southern (i.e., white trash) food. Not cheap and not my thing, but I would not let... More

Many restaurants find initial success, but very few can continually improve on the experience. Barley Swine not only accomplished this but was the best part of our Texas vacation. My wife is a well respected foodie in our home town. Even she was impressed by the experience. Every food item was outstanding, only outdone by the service of the staff.... More

Location is a bit out there but well worth the drive, very relaxed bohemian feel. Sat at the bar where we were taken great care off by the bar man who explained the concept and how to order. He also did a great job with his wine and beer knowledge. Being able to sit and watch the whole well oiled... More

New location on Burnet. Wait staff was very knowledgeable. Our party of four tried most of the items on the menu. Small pates-everyone had one or two bites of each plate. Very enjoyable evening.
