The menu offered plenty of options for the various palates in our group. The tasting menu was a little ambitious for the entire table, but we did have some memorable dishes. At the time, the pork buns that looked like little pigs were great, as was the pig skin noodles. The desserts were great, too, namely the trio of ice... More

I went to Austin for a business trip and decided to treat myself to a good dinner. Well this food turned out to be a great dinner. I had the zucchini with feta and pea paste , the pig faced buns and the pork belly. Everything was fresh and delicious. I will definitely come back. Great drinks and service as... More

This place is truly spectacular. We did the tasting menu and it is totally worth it. I'm generally a picky eater and loved everything. You have to try this place! The service was spectacular as well.

Barley Swine has the best food I've ever had in Austin and definitely some of the best of my life. While they started offering a typical menu format, the real star of Barley Swine has always been the chef's tasting menu. It's a expertly curated fixed 10 course small plate meal. They change the menu fairly often to match the... More

A group of us ate here during a long weekend in Austin. The tasting menu was to die for and every course continued to please. Frankly, it was one of the best dining experiences I have had; I wish it were in Chicago.

Lovely atmosphere. Excellent food. Be prepared, it is 'one of those places'... Beautiful presentation, excellent food, very small portions. Not an everyday sort of restaurant for everyday kind of people, but a delicious night out for a special occasion.

Northern Burnet Road is changing fast! Valet parking was most welcome in this small strip mall. The restaurant's trendy new location is 5 months old, and we sat in the sun outdoors, since Swine Time is only in the bar or patio. It was before 5:30. The sunny patio is pretty, with plants partly masking the parking lot, and the... More

This was our first trip to the new location - OMG what a traffic nightmare! A small, overfilled parking lot for three restaurants on a very busy street. Even with valet parking it was a mess. Once inside, we loved the environment and the noise level were very comfortable. We were four and ordered 10 dishes - the shiitake mushroom... More

Upon arrival, suspicious that this was a chic food emporium. Small bites. Waiter suggested a 10 course meal, no chance. After six of us each ordered three selections, learned how wrong I can be. Each dish better than the last, my favorite, the shiitake mushroom pasta which literally exploded with flavor. A range from grouper, to steak, to crab, to... More

I have long wanted to try Barley Swine and have heard good things aobut it. The location is great, and I really enjoyed the drinks at happy hour. I found the food good but a little pretentious. It is gourmet styled "American," maybe slightly Southern (i.e., white trash) food. Not cheap and not my thing, but I would not let... More
