I usually pre-order a cry-o-vac brisket (minimum of 5 pounds, but I did get one that weighed slightly less). No worries - it will all disappear fast! Standing in line in the Austin heat & humidity is not worth BBQ at any price - even...More

We placed an order about a month ahead, and picked it up to go for a family gathering. As always, it was perfection. Portions are plentiful and taste never disappoints. Although you can't just walk up and order for on the spot, if you know...More

I was skeptical at first when my nephew mentioned going to Franklin's BBQ for his birthday, but that we would have to wait for 5 hours in the Texas heat and humidity. I thought, "no bbq is worth waiting 5 hours in Texas' heat", but...More

I was given a lot of hype about Franklin BBQ before I went, so I showed up with high expectations. I had also read a review that "once you try their brisket you'll never want anyone else's brisket again"! And, to top that off the...More

The only negative is a 3-4 hour wait. Having said that, it's every bit worth the wait. Brisket... everything is great but the brisket.. this is where you come to eat the best brisket ever.

After living 10 years in Texas, then living away for 8 years, we returned to Austin and reserved a pick-up brisket and some sausage. Best brisket I've ever eaten, hands down. We picked it up at 1 pm, put it in a Yeti cooler until...More

The locals bring lawn chairs and coolers of their favorite beverage to sit for hours in the hot sun. We got there at noon and were served and eating in an 1:30. We, others behind us, were warned by the staff that the wait would...More

A group of us were in Texas for the UCLA/Texas A&M Football game in the fall. Rather than stay in College Station/Houston, we chose to stay in Austin. Having heard about Franklin on social media and in TV culinary shows for the longest of times,...More

My husband got in line at 5 am. Waiting in line is a bit like tailgating, people brought coolers and chairs, books and card games. We were second to order. The place is very old-timey as far as decor and music, and small. We had...More

The brisket and ribs were on point, great salty and smokey flavor to both. The bones pulled out of the ribs and the brisket was fork tender. Well deserved top 50 BBQ in Texas.

You can pre order for a minimum number of pounds.
Do open consumption laws prohibit you from enjoying a screwdriver or beer while passing the time? I have seen people in videos & on the No Reservations show drinking while in line. Just want to clarify before heading out there. Thank you!

There were plenty of people enjoying cold beer while waiting in line. I don't know if cocktails (like a screwdriver) would be any different or not.
Do we have to eat there or can we take out?
