I was sitting eating lunch at Maria's Taco Xpress last Saturday and the thought popped into my head that this is a must see place for my future out of town visitors. Food is decent to great (depending on what you get), decor is eclectic, location is great (south Lamar, need I say more?)! Always enjoyed the tacos I got... More

I stopped in on Sunday to catch some of the gospel music and try the tacos. The building is really cool - make sure you walk round the outside and see all the artwork around the exterior as well as inside - and the music was great as well. The decoration inside is unique, and keeps you entertained while you... More

In the sprite of keeping Austin Weird, this place is doing it. The building is really neat and eclectic. Staff was awesome and the Pastor lived up to everything that we read about to. Thank You Triple D for the recommendation.

I have been eating here for years and definitely in the top 5 of best Mexican restaurants in Austin. On this visit I ordered the Migas platter. It was extremely good where the eggs was spread out like a pancake and covered with cheese. Came with two flour tortillas, potatoes and beans to make tacos with. It filled me up... More

We were attracted by the building - it looked like a fun place. That was the best thing it had going for it. I had chicken tacos. There was very little cheese on the tacos. The chicken was cooked in a salsa type sauce but was pretty dry. My husband had beef tacos and he was not impressed either. Chips... More

Every time we visit Austin, we go to Maria's for their breakfast tacos. They offer many choices of fillings. When the weather is good, we enjoy eating in their outdoor area.

Went in at 8:30am for breakfast meeting. There were two people waiting for togo orders, that should have been a sign. There were three employees standing with there backs to the counter, i had to clear my throat to get there attention. We ordered two migas plates, a soda , a coffee. Didn't take very long for meals to come... More

We went pretty early in the day, so it wasn't very busy. Cute place, lots of interesting items on the walls/ceiling. We both got breakfast tacos and they were really good.

We've driven past this place many times, and although we chuckled at the large woman on the building, we had no idea that we should have run into her welcoming arms. We stopped in this week for lunch, and our first thought was "Why did we wait so long?!" For lunch, we tried: 1 migas taco (excellent) 1 beef gordita... More

I loved the funky "Classic Austin" vibe of this South Lamar Mexican Restaurant. However, the food was just o.k. Perhaps the breakfast tacos are better. At about $4.00 for each taco, you certainly get your money's worth. The standard 6" tortilla is really stuffed with fillings. You will need a fork to eat the parts that spill out when you... More
