Great breakfast spot. Cool place with nice vibe. The breakfast tacos were great. Especially the chef’s special. Good coffee. Fast friendly service.

Great name for a place, great logo! This place came up while we were searching online for coffee places and I had to check it out. The people working were helpful and friendly. I had the Steam Engine which is reheated pecan cold brew. There...was also a kids music recital on the stage at the time we were there.. not something we were expecting but it was cool to see these kids play their different instruments.More
We went to this coffee shop two days in a row-the first was for coffee and we saw their expansive menu that we wanted to have lunch the next day. The first day, the business had a very strong odor I thought was bleach that...was overwhelming, but thought it would be gone the next day. When we arrived the 2nd day, the odor was still there, but seemed a bit different. Not sure what the smell is, but decided not to eat and only have coffee-which was excellent, as long as I got it to go!More
Chocolate pecan frappe was done to my wife's exacting specs and she loved it, I thought it was tasty too....I just call them frozen blended coffee thingys 'cause everybody has their own name for them. I enjoyed a large hot cappucino which was done very...well and a large brazen craizen cookie with a bruce lee saying on it. We enjoyed visiting with the man, Derrick, that made the 5 star drinks. We'll be back for more of these goodies.More
i think I could hang out here most of the day! relaxed, great coffee, great caprice wrap - so yum every time. Also, have never been disappointed with the chef special yummy tacos - I don't even ask what is in them before I get...one!More
Great times for rock and roll!! Smaller place than what I thought but it does the job. Can't really complain.
We just happened by this place! Wow! Laid back atmosphere. Comfortable. Great service. Hot chocolate was yummy. Can’t even say enough about the MadMax Macadamia nut cookie!!! You have to go!
Any time of day you can stop by any coffee shop and get decent coffee. Support non-corporate coffee as well as a shop that supports the arts! They host comedy, live music, more! Kick butt kicks butt!
Oh, breakfast tacos, I have seen your light and it shines on me forever. I was in Austin for a few days for a poetry festival and discovered Kick Butt Coffee as they were nice enough to host several of the events. I understand you...can’t walk 10 feet in Austin without tripping over a place that serves breakfast tacos, and I’m okay with that reality. Besides at the airport on the way home, Kick Butt Coffee were the only ones I had in the city so I don’t really have anything to compare them to, but these were delicious. They offered 3 vegetarian options, A black bean and potato, an egg cheddar, and potato, and a yummy special which added avocado and spinach to the previous. According to their website, they make only so many and may run out depending how busy they are. I got lucky when I showed up…it wasn’t very busy and there were vegetarian tacos a-plenty available for me. I had the “yummy” special, and the egg, cheddar and potato. These are soft tacos which weren’t so much in terms of presentation, but which were absolutely delicious, especially with a little bit of the spicy salsa. I want more! Kick Butt is also a full fledged coffee house with a lunch menu with lots of choices for vegetarians. (Order at the counter.) And perhaps most importantly, the coffee was excellent. All good things to a coffee-house that serves good coffee. If I lived in Austin I’d be a regular here at all times of the day.More
Went there twice for lattes and Americanos. We live in the Pacific Northwest where coffee is a big deal, so it was nice to find this spot while on vacation in Texas. Both times the drinks were tasty and well made. Conveniently located off I-35.
I went to this place to see some live music. I didn't know what to expect. I got there far too early, only to find some kind of stand up comedy show happening inside. I had to sit that out before the live music happened....Once the show was started, it was a bit more relaxing. The venue is a lot smaller than what had been previously described as. But it worked.More
I was waiting for my car to be repaired so I walked over to Kickbutt Coffee and was immediately impressed with what I saw when I walked in. It was spacious with lots of seating but the red and black theme gave it a more...intimate feel. It looked like a great place to spend an evening. However, it had a strong smell of mothballs.. I got the day's special breakfast tacos (I don't remember the ingredients but it was chicken and something else) and really loved them. Overall, it was a good experience; good cheap food, but the smell was quite bothersome and because of that, I'm giving a 3 instead of a 4..More
Hi Mari, thank you for your valuable feedback. So glad you liked our theme and the especially the red and black. Also glad you liked our breakfast tacos and our prices. It is a real bummer about the smell it appears every few months for...More
You are going to be in the mood for one or the other, coffee and tea or a mixed drink. What can make it better? Martial art decor and live local music. They also have smoothies. Right off the highway.
We were drawn to this place from the name! We've been there a couple of times now and each time, the coffee was delicious! The pastries were really good too, and although it's not your usual coffee shop "look" or experience, we'll be back next...time we're in Austin! For us, it's usually just a quick morning drop in to pick up coffees to go, but worth it!More
Went to get a cup of coffee and pulled up. Noticed a HUGE group of alternative punk rock kids outside. We were entering and got charged a cover fee of $5 each person. Went in and a live metal band was playing. The music was...so loud we couldn't even order the coffee. I finally ordered after screaming. One of the next band members slammed into my pregnant wife and dumped her coffee on her and just kinda laughed. Sat down to try and hear the band but it was so loud you couldn't even hear all the chords. Left 10 minutes after arriving.More
