Three of us ate here and had a great dinner. We shared a mezza plate, then had a gyro entree, a chicken souvlaki (aka garlic chicken) entree, and a beef souvlaki (beef kabob) entree.
The mezza plate had a large portion of hummus, another of...baba ghanoush, 3 falafel, and 3 dolmas. The dolmas and falafel were especially impressive - the dolmas were the first I’ve had anywhere that were more than plain white rice in a bland, oily grape leaf. They were moist and well-seasoned and the falafel were also made with an excellent spice blend and were tender instead of dry and crumbly. All of this was accompanied by soft, warm pita.
We could have stopped there, but went on to really good Greek salad made with fresh, crisp lettuces (no iceberg - yay!), tomato, cucumber, kalamata olive, red onion, feta, and a very good homemade dressing.
The meat in all 3 entrees was moist, tender, and delicious. The chicken had a line of a garlicky cream on top of each piece which, while tasty enough, was completely unnecessary since the meat was perfectly seasoned. Next time, I will ask them to leave it off. We also had a marvelous tzatziki sauce and good rice.
This wonderful food was attentively served in a peaceful green interior decorated with large mosaics and other art pieces.
Although I no longer live in Texas, I’ve eaten in a few other good Mediterranean restaurants in the area, including Prince, and I highly recommend Olive’s over all of them.More
