On our way to Arizona from Pennsylvania. Trying to pick at least 1 good restaurant at each stop. Have to say, was not disappointed! I ordered the rib platter. It came out with 3 meaty tasty pork ribs, potato salad, cole slaw, Texas toast, baked...beans and fabulous onion rings. My son got the chicken fried steak which came with 2 sides which were LOADED bake potato and the fabulous onion rings. The ribs were very juicy and tasty. The chicken fried steak was good with a flavorful gravy. The pricing was reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. Service was excellent as well. If we're back in Amarillo we'll be sure to stop here super hungry!More

Passing through, stopped at Dyers based on reviews. Food was ok, and served lukewarm. Kids chicken strips were a hit with the 10 year old, the brisket was tasty and I am sure the onion rings would have been fabulous if they were hot.

If you are a true racist, homophobe or just filled with hate for anyone who is not protestant, old and white this is the place for you. I was shocked as were others with the vitriol spewed from the customers. At first thought someone would...say something but the employees joined right in with the hate filled speech. I am from Amarillo but have never been anywhere where so much hate and evil was spread.More

We live out of state, but have been coming to Dyers for the past 4 years. Whenever we are traveling through Amarillo, we make a point of stopping here. Generally 3-5X/yr. My son and I stopped in this past week. He loves BBQ and this...was his first time going with us. What a huge disappointment!! Waitress was friendly, but made couple errors. Ordered beef brisket, received just beef. She took back to kitchen and brought out correctly. Ordered sweet tea, received unsweetened. Nothing that I can’t overlook! The disappointment came with food taste and presentation. BBQ was bland, both pulled pork and brisket was very fatty. Also, was served luke warm. We both tried our fries, right when served and they were cold. Yes, I should have complained right away. Adult son doesn’t like any fuss, so I figured I’d keep quiet on temp of fries. It wasn’t until we left and were in car talking, that I realized both of us were not impressed with the meats either. Don’t understand when you go in on weeknight, around 6:30-7, why food presentation was so off. There were other diners there, but they definitely were not busy for such poor service.More

First off two things. Circumstances had us show up here at 710 on a Friday night which probably contributed to the downside of our experience. Second the food was very good. We thoroughly enjoyed it. But... They were busy for sure between dine in and...take out business. We were seated, and greeted by the server quiet promptly. It took quiet a while for drinks to come but I ordered unsweetened ice tea in Texas and some times they have to do a fresh brew for that so was not concerned However it pretty quickly became evident that although the front of the house was doing the best they could, the kitchen was having trouble keeping up. We waited about 40 minutes for our food. I felt bad for the table behind us who had several small children with them. I really wanted to try the blackberry cobbler because it's a favorite of mine but it was getting close to 9 pm after a long day on the road so I passed would love to come back when they are less busy so I can try it.More

We asked someone in the area for a good BBQ restaurant and he recommended Dyer's. We were not disappointed! We were a bit confused by the menu and asked about it. The serve told us that many people share one of the items because of...all of the food you get. I'm so glad we took her advice! There was more than enough for us to eat. Great ribs, pulled pork and brisket. The only thing we were disappointed in was the bean. We were hoping for a smoky flavor but they were just ordinary beans. All other sides were really good. If we get back in this area, we'll stop by again!More

We recently ate here for a family members birthday. In total there were nine of us that were eating at the time. The waitress showed up relatively quickly the first time and took our drink orders. She brought the drinks back pretty quickly along with...the side plates of the pickles and peppers and that kind of stuff. After that she probably did not come back to take our order for at least 10 minutes. When she came back to take our order she stood at one end of the table and instead of moving around it as she would take people‘s orders which would make sense since we were in a pretty long table she stood at one end and basically yelled over the noise that was in the restaurant and we had to do the same. I will give her this, When she finally got to the other end of the table I guess she finally realized this because she did actually walk down a few steps to where we weren’t actually having to raise our voices anymore. Then she actually tried to takeoff to go turn in the order whenever there were four of us at the table who had nothing to drink so we actually had to stop her before she took off and tell her that we needed refills. She said she would be back with those and it took her almost 10 minutes to come back with the refills. By that point other people at the table needed refills. We kind of went through the same pattern through the rest of the meal. I don’t want this to sound like this whole experience was bad by any means it wasn’t. The food was excellent like it always is but at the same time the service at this restaurant has never been good and the waitresses are either being given too many tables to handle or just expect people to tip them for not doing very well.More

The staff was good. ….The place was clean. ….The portions are large. …The food taste was average. …we arrived on a Monday afternoon and there was barely anyone there so we got seated immediately.

It seemed very popular, but we were underwhelmed. The meat was okay. Pulled pork was good. Brisket had good flavor but wasn’t very tender. Same with the ribs. The biggest disappointment was the sauce. It was very thin and had very little flavor (which was...really surprising). It was probably my least favorite bbq sauce ever. Our favorite side was the fried okra. The others were fine, but nothing special. Next time in Amarillo, we’d go somewhere else.More

I moved to Amarillo from the metroplex about ten years ago and am originally from southeast Texas I've had a lot of good (and not so good) bar-b-que in my 67 years. Dyers is among the best in my opinion. I go there often. The...food and service are consistently great, and unlike most bar-b-que restaurants there is wait staff instead of a line. The portions are large, the sauce good ant their smoke prime rib on weekends great. For non bar-b-que eaters they have other dishes among which my personal favorite is the chicken fried steak. The blackberry cobbler is terrific. I've seen a few negative reviews on this site and do not understand them, but my wife and I (plus extended family and friends heartily recommend Dyers.More

Great BBQ with substantial portions. I had the cowboy 3 meat combo. Ribs, burnt ends and brisket. Ribs were my favorite, brisket was ok. I will return!

Traveling thru and stopped for a couple of nights in Amarillo. We met a couple of friends for dinner at Dyer's. This restaurant has a wonderful Texas atmosphere and is decorated with many old photos and relics. Each of us ordered something different and all...were very happy with their choice. I had the BBQ beef basket with potato salad. The beef was chunks of very tasty, tender meat. The potato salad was just like homemade. This was accompanied by the apricot sauce and bread. I ended the meal with a perfect cherry cobbler and ice cream. Wow! That was a good meal.More

First of ,not sure how Texas bbq is . I love bbq and all grilled meat , but I want to experience the different taste of it . Picked the place because of reviews and we pass the first one by the highway because we...missed it. It looked like they have regular patrons there because they all seem to know each other . On this roadtrip I was really hoping to have a one of a kind Texas bbq and not one like Texas Roadhouse . ( we are a Roadie all the way) Husband suggested the 3 meat not realizing it’s all you can eat but can not have them to go . Anyways protein is not a problem for me as long as it’s great. Tasted the jalapeño sausage , spicy but good . Brisket is dry and no taste . And ribs are ok . I wonder if it’s should be served hot ? Must say I enjoyed the onion rings though. We tried and ask if we can take home some and waitstaff politely decline . Which is ok . Didn’t want to waste them . But hey next time we’ll try somewhereMore
