I have a new favorite for Mexican food in Amarillo. The Plaza is beautiful inside and out, excellent menu for everyone, including those with dietary restrictions, and exceptional service. You get a basket of fresh, warm tortilla chips and delicious salsa to munch on while...you peruse their vast menu.
I got their Fajita Combo with chicken and shrimp. A whole chicken breast and six grilled shrimp smothered in sauteed onions, bell peppers, and Calabrian chiles were sizzling on the cast iron platter. Four warm, soft flour tortilla, made in house, were ready to snuggle the meat and vegetables, along with a dish of sour cream, guacamole and Pico de Gallo to top it with.
My two sides were Mexican Pappas and Charro Beans, and both were delicious.
As you can see in the accompanying photos, the servings were large and I took almost half home. And I am a big eater.
Truly exceptional food and service. They also offer desserts and a full bar.More
This place is close to the hotel we are in for the night and since we like Mexican, thought we'd check it out! We didn't want a lot so ordered the Sampler platter of appetizers. The platter was definitely a meal for two! We had...more than enough. Our server wore a mask -- thank you! -- and we were seated such that we were not too close to others. (We wore masks coming in -- and then leaving.)More
I didn't think you could screw up nachos but these were the worst; thin soggy tortilla chips made them difficult to eat and they didn't taste very good anyway. Other food was satisfactory for the price. Happy hour margaritas ($5!!) were OK but kind of...chemically tasting - "on the rocks" served in a cocktail glass with crushed ice?????
Service was inept (they were busy) - a table seated after us (same waitress) got some of their food before we got our drinks..
Maybe too far from Mexico for a Tex Mex place.More
Although the wait was long it was Friday night and to us hopefully meant it was worth the wait. We were not disappointed. This was a recommendation from a friend. Everything was great. Service was fast and attentive, food was great. All around the best.
Delicious Chile Rellano!!! I loved my food tonight at the restaurant!!! The chili relleno was one of the best I have ever eaten. Huge building!!!Service was excellent!!! Such a friendly staff!!!! You must stop here for fabulous Mexican Food!!
Loved the huge 2 enchiladas for $9.99 with two sides. Jalapeño cream sauce and green sauce were both great choices. We could have shared this it was so big! My son loved his gluten free fajita dish. Very quick service by Jessica! Very nice family...meal!More
Granted I had high hopes between the 3 hour wait the day before and the high rating online but I am completely underwhelmed. The salsa was meh. The queso was not much different than the canned queso you get at concession stand. The food was...presented on an unimaginable white platter that hinted at the blandness that was to come. The portions were generous if only they had contained flavor. I did have a combination plate so I feel I had a fair representation of what they offered.More
We devoured our delish brunch before we could take any photos:( I ordered the stacked enchiladas with two eggs over easy (beef enchiladas with verde sauce)and hubby ordered huevos rancheros. Homemade tortillas. SO YUMMY! Staff was lovely and kind. Organized and efficient. Thank you!!! Can’t...wait to come back for more. Oh, we ordered Togo for Covid safety. These guys handled their massive volume of Togo orders flawlessly.More
We really appreciate the Plaza for service, and the food is consistent. We had a special group of friends getting together, and were sad to hear the Plaza would not accommodate an advanced reservation for 20 people. It’s first come first serve, regardless. So, it’s...a good place - but when a place won’t accommodate you it also shows that the customer comes in second place here.More
Masks are still required by the Governor's orders, but many places are not enforcing it. We wore masks into the Plaza, but took them off once we were seated and had chips and drinks. We put them on again to walk out.
