Can't beet it, really. Great food, good service, good wine, decent beer. The Saddle pack for launch is perfect-half a salad or sandwich with a cup (huge cuo) of soup!

The food is probably the best in the area. On the pricey side but we only go a couple of times a year. Ribeye is excellent. Margaritas are tasty.

After strolling the streets and shops of Alpine, friends brought this out-of-town visitor (and family) to Reata for lunch. While many items on the menu looked good, we were steered by our host to something more typical of southwest Texas cuisine than, say, a hamburger. Good suggestion, as the carne asada proved to be a great and satisfying taste of... More

This was our third time here and it is always a pleasure to enjoy a margarita that is made from scratch instead of a mix (we asked especially for a custom Rita). The young lady who was taking reservations came to our table and was very friendly and made use feel welcome. The home made hot rolls/bread served with Rita's... More

Tremendous staff. Great food, but Century Bar & Grill Alpine beats Reata with their amazing chef. Be sure & make reservations. Lots of disappointed customers turned away while we dined. Absolutely we would eat here again but if only one night in Alpine we'd pick Century Bar & Grill. You can't lose either way.

We ate at the Reata while visiting Alpine and we were pleased with the meal. The menu is mostly traditional Texas dishes such as fried chicken (sorry but chicken fried chicken as it is on the menu is too cute), chicken fried steak, enchiladas and chili rellenos but with a twist. For some plates this works well like the Jalapeño... More

What should have been a wonderful evening with friends turned out to be not so terrific, at least where the food was concerned. Three couples were visiting the area from Ft Worth; we've all been to the Reata in Ft Worth and found it to be excellent. Unfortunately that's not the case with the "original." Since it was NYE the... More

We spent several days in this area and the great thing about Alpine is that it's only 30 minutes from Marfa and 90 minutes from Big Bend, so it's a great stop-off point. We had a great dinner here at the bar, the restaurant was fully booked. My husband, with the naturally low heart-rate and cholesterol count, went for the... More

This was fantastic! We drove from Marfa for a day trip and worth it! A little wait but then sat at the bar and had great martinis and great service with Erica at the bar. Mariah the general manager greeted us and chatted with us, she was great! We had the nachos for an app, wedge salad, tortilla soup and... More

Alpine is great and something of a hidden gem compared to the more-famous Marfa. Reata offers a varied menu and excellent food and has Big Bend Brewery selections on draft as well as wine by the glass and bottle. The kitchen closes for lunch after 2 p.m. and it can get crowded before then. Try the carne asada with enchilada... More
