Visit this restaurant on every visit to Anderson, SC. I would say it's a local hang out. Being from Las Vegas, and coming to the south, I always order the fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, and their dessert. I have never been disappointed in the food or the service. It is one of my favorite places to eat.

Good food. Meat plus 3 sides (and you can make one of your sides a dessert). Fast service even though they are always busy. We go every few weeks.

We mainly go to Mama Penn's for breakfast. They open at 6:00 am.The eggs fixed anyway you want, grits and hash browns are excellent, and coffee cup is always full and hot.The biscuits and waffles are good too. Saturday morning is especially busy but there is plenty of seating - tables and booths. We like to eat at the counter.... More

The price of the food is very good considering that it includes your drink. The menu offers typical southern style food with choice of meat and three veggies. The food quality is good, not great. Some of the side dishes were a bit greasy and just ok. The chicken was a bit bland for my taste. The service was pretty... More

This restaurant used to be much better. I was disappointed by how much the food and service have went downhill. The food is bland with very little southern authenticity. Not worth the money in my book.

We have have actually ate here numerous times over the years, and the food and service is always good. While they do things like hamburgers and chicken fingers, their specialty is good ole cooking like fried chicken and vegetables. I have found their southern cooking to be some of the best around. So if you're in the Anderson area, this... More

This place was pretty busy for a weekday when we were there. They had the standard southern fare options. I had the fried chicken. I expected more. It was fine but didn't overly impress. Our waitress was very nice. They staff were patient with some of the patrons who needed extra assistance (elderly, special needs customers) so I really respected... More

This was our third time visiting this restaurant. The face of any business is the first person the customer contacts. This is where Mama Penn's fell way short. It wasn't the tattoos, the big black earplugs or the piercing in the middle of her cheek that was a turn off, but the total disinterest in us as customers. "How many"... More

A typical southern meat and three. Nothing to brag on. Most of the veggies taste like they came from a can. Bread is unremarkable. A cheaper, less flavorful alternative to Cracker Barrel. At least there's normally not much of a wait to be seated. Popular with the elderly crowd.

Fried Chicken for lunch or dinner is always pleasing to me. The Townhouse Breakfast is a casual, country classic I so enjoy. Their service staff is efficient and really get to know their "regulars"; without asking, I'm given Worchestshire to sprinkle on my hash browns. Now that's great "S E R V I C E", at its very best! =September... More
