We've eaten at this restaurant often and have always had a pleasant experience. I called for reservations and asked for a booth since we were bringing a guest who had never eaten there; however when we arrived we were told there was none available. I said I had made reservations and asked for a booth and had been told we were down for one. The young lady said "well everybody wants a booth" but you can be seated at a half booth. I commented to her I guess it does no good to call for reservations. She then asked "well do you want to be seated in a half booth"? It sounded as if we would not be seated if we said no.This is a long bench with several tables next to each other and chairs on the outside. We were unable to carry on a conversation with our guest with parties talking and laughing on either side of us. Our server was OK, not the service we've received in the past. Food was very good. Our guest enjoyed her food. Several booths became available within minutes of our being seated and one was still open when we left. It will be quite a while before we return.

We were arriving in Aiken st about 8 pm on a Friday night, after flying into Augusta from our Colorado home. We called several restaurants in Ailen on the way, but many were closed or closing. Aiken Fish greeted us pleasantly on the phone, informing us that they close at 10 pm. The place was nearly full of diners, but the service was ptompt and efficient. The food (raw oysters, the fried fish and shrimp basket, chocolate cake and Key Lime pie) was all great. Hush puppies were among the best I ever had. Lightly breaded shrimp was also outstanding. The locals we talked to referenced Red Lobster as an inferior standard of quality. We agree!

According to Palmetto Priority, seal of approval from Aiken , for the Covid issue, there are many factors that must be met. I experienced this other day. This is required for the Palmetto Priority, seal of excellence. But this was not observed. All employees were not wearing a face covering, only the servers when serving the food.. Employees behind the bar area, perhaps had a mask, but was pulled down, so they could chat with others. If one has a mask on their head/neck area, they should be wearing it over nose and mouth. Otherwise don't wear it. There may be safety issues wearing a mask, depending on job. But for the current issues of Covid, just wear any kind of face covering if not having direct customer contact, for visual to customers. Servers should have a approved face coverings, to which customers feel comfortable being inside. If you wish to keep customers , just follow quidelines for covid. Sure there are exceptions to wearing a mask, but if the general public doesn't view it positively, you have lost a customer.

I want to like this place and I want them to succeed but I am always disappointed. We live right around the corner and love their tap beer selection but unfortunately their food is lacking. We were excited to try their new fish and chips option...don't bother. Two tiny strips of fish with a really thick rock hard batter for $15. Come on a fish house should do much better. The only items I would recommend is their fish taco or fish bites (used to be grouper bites so that is now questionable). In addition the serving size of the fish bites is about half of what it was when they first opened. Was also not impressed with the seafood platter...not very tasty. We have been happy with the serving staff but I feel they r almost embarrassed by the food. And don't get the oysters....tiny and not even very tasty. So if you want a good fish dinner I suggest you go around the corner to Locals. Note the pic attached was taken after eatng one bite from each of the filets. You can see how small they were and the thick hard batter.

First visit. Great service. Started with the conch fritters. Above average. Trio of tuna filet, Virginia oysters, and fried catfish. The tuna was above average but not excellent. The catfish was standard. The oysters were tasty. They served the sweet potato fries with a marshmallow fluff dipping sauce. A first, and it added sweetness. The fries were a bit overdone on this visit.

When my shrimp po boy arrived all I could find was the lettuce and tomatoes. While the shrimp was there it was hard to find and the sandwich could have used a handful more. The New England Clam Chowder was thick and pasty, and not memorable. With a Coke, the bill came to $21.00 plus tip which I thought was overpriced for the lack of quality . I also noticed that the restaurant was almost empty which is a bad sign at lunch time.

We have been going there since they first opened and always loved it and brought our out-of-town guests there. They recently changed their menu and changed their recipe for she crab soup which was always our favorite . Very disappointed with their new recipe , it was terrible with no crab flavor , could only taste the sherry . Fish portion was 1/2 the size of their portions in the past . Very disappointing m will not go back .

In town for the Masters and we stayed at a hotel within walking distance to the Aiken Fish House. Went to dinner about 8:15p on Thursday night. The place was very busy, which we expected. We were seated immediately. The restaurant kitchen (and bar) closes at 9p but our waitress said we had plenty of time. She was terrific all night. I had eaten enough pimento cheese sandwiches at the Masters that I wasn't real hungry. Just ordered a dozen steamed oysters. They were good both size wise and taste wise. Cocktail sauce was good. My buddy had a bigger appetite and order the pick 3 catch combo platter with grouper, trigger fish and blackened scallops. They were all perfectly cooked. He got them with fries and cole slaw. The fries tasted like they were fresh made in house. During our visit the chef came out and walked around the restaurant. We talked with him for a few minutes. Very friendly. We told him his food was spot on and looked to come back again, hopefully when we play Palmetto Golf Club. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

We have been to this restaurant four times thus far and it has been consistently outstanding with the quality of the food and the professionalism and enthusiasm of the staff. You very rarely see this level of excellence anymore. If you are looking for a truly enjoyable dining experience try this restaurant!

We were going to Ridge Spring for peaches & wanted to eat somewhere & saw this in Aiken. Waiter was good. She crab soup had minimal crab meat & highly spiced...Cajun-like. It was OK. Clam chowder was GOOD! Disappointed in conch fritters. Grouper bites were OK. We were there for a late lunch on a Wednesday.

We've had lunch and dinner here and both were delicious. Our servers were friendly and efficient. The blackened mahi mahi and tuna were perfectly seasoned, and the fried shrimp was lightly battered and tasty! The portions are plentiful so we always have leftovers to bring home. We will return!

The Aiken Fish House is honestly one of our favorite restaurants, and we are never disappointed until last night. One of the menu items we love the most are the Conch Fritters, and they are no longer on the menu. WHAT? that is one of the most popular items.....super disappointed. But if you don't care about Conch Fritters, everything else is amazing, including the friendly wait staff.

At The Aiken Fish House, my husband and I sat at the bar, Dana waited on us, and we had amazingly delicious Gulf oysters and Firecracker Shrimp! When I eat shrimp, I usually taste a kind of unpleasant, “mineral” taste. These Firecracker Shrimp had none of that! They were savory and seasoned perfectly. My husband also had the trigger fish sandwich. Neither of us had ever had trigger fish; it was so good! We highly recommend it! We had four sides: sweet potato, cheese grits, collard greens, and red beans and rice. Each one was great by itself, but the collard greens and red beans and rice together was scrumptious! Dana recommended that, and she was spot on. The beer was cold, the conversation was friendly. We really enjoyed The Aiken Fish House.

The atmosphere reminded us of the fresh-off-the-boat places at the coast of South Carolina. Food was offered with a fine variety (grilled, blackened, fried, etc.) and was absolutely delicious. My young granddaughter tried gator tail and loved it. Service was excellent and though we did not partake, the choices for bar drinks was better than one would expect. Service was EXCEPTIONAL! We will be back!
