In town for a little sight seeing and was impressed by the outside appearance of the place. We weren't disappointed by the food, service or cleanliness. Excellent food, nice chips and salsa and fresh guacamole. It would appear the building is a former Pizzeria Uno location. I would appear well maintained.

Very good Mexican food. The portions are huge and the prices are great. Guacamole and entrees specials are outstanding.

Excellent again! Had the huevos con chariso, wonderful flavor. The service was great also. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great Mexican food at a reasonable price.

My wife and I visit this place at least once a week and always have a good meal. The wait staff is attentive and work as a team to give you great service. My wife has some very specific dietary restrictions and they are very accommodating to her needs. A must visit when in Altoona!!!

This was Probably my 10th trip to this place and I have decided it's my last . This place had good food when they were in the original location but since they moved I think it has gotten progressively worse. Ordered a pitcher of margurita's didn't even get a buzz, guess they were running short on tequila. What this town... More

Have been going to el campesino for years, started when they were in the original location, it was very good then, but since they moved into this larger location every time I have gone there has been a disappointment. I travel a lot and have been to many Mexican restaurants, this one is in my home town and I hate... More

We were driving through Altoona to grab some lunch and gas, and came across this restaurant. It seemed to be a better idea for some fresh Mexican food instead of some fast food burgers. The food was fresh and tasty. All employees were very polite and friendly. Great place for a pit stop!

Probably about the most authentic Mexican cuisine you're going to find around here. The food is always good, and the service is always friendly and attentive. I'll definitely be seeing you guys again!
