This little diner in the main road of Union Street, Allentown, is among the best the tri-city area has to offer for a hearty breakfast at good value and little fuss. Would reccomend for those on a budget and anyone else who doesn't mind a smaller space and a community vibe.

We only discovered this place about 3 months ago. I had driven by it many times but we never stopped. Last night was probably our 4-5 visit since we found it. I have eaten at this place at different times of the day and this was the first time at dinner time. It looked crowded from the outside but we... More

We come here all the time for breakfast. The coffee is great, hot and bottomless. Wait staff in very nice, friendly and are quick to take your order. Food arrives hot and fast. The place is a great melting pot of characters with plenty of stories if you want to listen.

My family has been going there for 13 years and my daughter has a stomach issue that she gets gas uncontrollably and she burped out of the blue and people got mad and the owner said he didn't care if we ever came back. The owner Gus was really rude and ignorant and they didn't have a changing table for... More

I have been coming here since 2000 and love this place! Its classic, old time diner feel...and the reason you come is for a good meal at a good price! Whether breakfast , lunch or dinner, the food is always very good, and you get a lot for your dining dollar here! Tables and booths are simple, but nice, and... More

After a weekend of sightseeing in the Poconos we decided to get off the turnpike while heading home to find a local place to eat. That's when we came across the Golden Gate Diner. We immediately sensed that this was where the locals ate as many coming through the door were greeted by name. And it was obvious that it... More

This is definitely 60s-70s decor at this diner. I thought the breakfast menu was somewhat limited. I had pancakes with sausage along with OJ and coffee. The pancakes were great! The sausage was a little dried out . Coffee was hot and freshly brewed. OJ was good too. Service was fairly quick. The diner is open for lunch and dinner... More

Haven't been here in over a year since I moved out of the area. I met some friends for breakfast. Got seated by a very sweet lady towards the front. Waited for our server for almost 20 minutes. Had it not been for the Hostess we wouldn't have had coffee at all... When our server finally showed up, (very rude... More

This is an old-school diner, nothing fancy or frilly. Typical diner menu with cheap prices. Some of the food is very good and some of it is so-so, but nothing is terrible. Salad is iceberg, soup is sort of like campbell's. I usually get the $8.95 black diamond steak - very delicious steak (on a slice of bread???) with a... More

Stopped at the Golden Gate for breakfast on the way home from MusikFest and was very pleased with the experience. Arrived mid morning and was seated immediately although the place was quite busy. Server was right there bringing coffee. The food came out pretty quick as well and was very good, no problems at all. The bill, much to my... More
